W7r2 A damp run

Well, I cajoled running bud into venturing out, and miraculously the rain cleared to just an extremely fine drizzle, before petering our altogether. However, the road contained loads of puddles, varying in depth, plus rushing streams. Amazingly enough, although my shoes aren’t waterproof, my socks hardly got wet!

After my very brisk five minute walk, I made the mistake of starting too fast, as I quickly lost steam after a few minutes. Luckily, I knew what was happening, and slowed right down to allow myself to recover. After that, I managed to pick up a steady rhythm, and ploughed on through.

As well as running the C25K app, I also ran the MapMyRun app. This was useful, as I was told when I had run so many km. Jo told me how long I’d run, and made me feel good about it. I think it was a good combination. I also had my Fitbit tracking my progress, and although it differed from MapMyRun, I think I’ll stick with its stats for continuity (plus they made my performance look better! 🤣).

Today, I managed to run 2.96km in 25 minutes, at a pace of 8’33”, which, surprisingly, was six seconds faster than Monday, because I was feeling really sluggish and unwilling to move my legs! So folks, you can’t trust how you feel!

When we got back to my house, we met a friend who asked about C25K, and we encouraged her to join in. I also told her about you lot, and how wonderful you all are! I hope she takes the plunge - she already has the app on her phone!

Anyway, sorry for the waffle. It’s difficult to stop talking when you feel so positive! 😁

I'm loving it too, changed my life. It's great here, really friendly and inspiring. Wish I'd found it earlier than week 6! Keep running and keep enjoying 😊

Wish I’d found it a few years ago, because then I might have started running earlier! 😂

No apology necessary! We're nearly all guilty of much longer waffles than that!

So glad you found the run positive, and that you are encouraging others with your positivity.

Yes, it is strange that, sometimes, what feels to be extremely slow actually turns out to be rather fast over all. I think it's hare and tortoise syndrome... if you pace well, you can keep your speed up for longer and that wins out in the end.

Congrats on a great run!

Thank you, Pianism! I will know next time to be a little more cautious when I start off, knowing that I can catch up at the end. 😊

wow you should be real proud of going out despite the rain even if it is a light drizzle so many people won't I love the rain, but at the moment it is tipping down big time here we have a river running down our road. Nice to be sat indoors watching the ladies world cup football and a cup of tea..... enjoy the next run

Thank you! I really don’t mind the rain, actually. It wasn’t cold, and I was wearing a baseball cap to keep my glasses clear, which worked a treat. I hope you get off the IC soon. 🤞

Love a good waffle, so waffle away 🤗

Well done for heading out in this inclement weather 👏👏👏

No running for me today but the pony was not impressed at hacking in the rain 🐎☔💧

My old Arab was okay, until the wind started to blow, then he turned his bum into the wind and planted himself until it eased off! We had a few words, during the course of our relationship! 🤣

Did you run on the puddles? My feet get very wet in the puddles 🤣

Great job today, doubly so for getting someone else to download the app! The pace is good to know about, just don’t let it distract you from the job at hand. 7 runs to that podium... enjoy them all.

Don’t worry, I’m not concentrating on pace at all, just time.

I tried to avoid the puddles, but it was very difficult in places. Our roads aren’t the best, in rural Norfolk! 🙄
