This outside running lark

Having completed the c25k and consolidation on a treadmill, the wettish weather that we have at the moment would allow me to get a couple of runs in outside.

Obviously, running in my basement does not require anything more than shoes and underwear (I do wear more than that). I am now wondering what you do with your keys and stuff, what do you wear in the rain so you stay dryish but don't get too hot ? I normally do my brisk walk with a hoodie on over a summer t-shirt and remove it to run. My leggings are proper running leggings from Decathlon, but t-shirts, warm up jacket, somewhere to put keys etc.....

This weather stuff is new to me, all suggestions gratefully received.

I have a little elasticated belt which fits a phone and keys in. I use it mainly when i am out riding otherwise I have to stuff my phone and keys down my boots, but it also served me well on the couple of outdoor runs I've done. It was only about £4 from ebay.

Thanks !

I will look out for it.

I also don't want to enter a wet t-shirt contest. What do you recommend ?

Hi I’m a graduate who got injured and as a result thought I’d give it another go now that I’m better 🤪 anyway I digress.

I have only run outside - started in the October and then through the winter which is great as you have a jacket but like you last spring thought what do I do with my iPhone etc so bought one of these arm things. What a pain that was so now have a belt that has a zip to insert your phone to keep it safe and find this works well for me. But make sure it’s not too small as it will restrict your running. I hope that helps. 🙃

Thanks !

What sort of jacket did you use ?

Actually it was a freebie from work ☺️ And wind proof 🙃 the best thing and would throughly recommend as I live on the coast. It’s from China and the make is Quechua.com it’s called the stratermic with zips all over the place. If you can get hold of it get one good luck

A lot of running leggings have zip pockets to slip your key, gum, etc in while you run. Often at the back just below the waistband. Although a friend of mine just shoves everything in her sports bra keys, phone, whatever! 😂

Phone ok, keys sound painful !

My leggings have no pockets I will look out for ones with.

T-shirt and / or jacket advice ?

I usually just wear a lightweight water resistant jacket... this is one of the tops I wear... mandmdirect.com/01/details/...

At the moment, if it's raining then I just get wet.

Shorts with zip pockets. One pocket has phone for music/running app. Other pocket has key. Keep it as simple and as light as possible.

Shorts ? SHORTS ? You must be joking ! It's cold outside ! I run in long leggings even in my own garage 😨

Needs to be about boiling point before I get to shorts.

You're one of those people that says "come in the sea the water's lovely" aren't you ? I know your type lol

The weather is horrendous right now by me. I wore my headband today in the pouring rain and it kept my ears (and headphones!) dry and much warmer than when I went out without it the other day .

Adding hat/headband to the list, thanks.

Mine is a min Adidas climalite one and I definitely recommend, it keeps ears warm but it’s not too hot either if that makes sense!

I've got a running belt too. One is stretchy and waterproof, amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B077FQ...

the other one has a bottle holder. It says that the bottle doesn't bounce, and it's true! I prefer the little one but my kids bought the bottle one so I use that at the moment.
