The GPS in my phone seems to have been playing up a bit this morning, recording a 3 minute zero seconds kilometre π. My usual time varies between 7 and 10 minutes, though I have done 6 minutes on the odd occasion. Three minutes isn't bad for someone who just over a year ago couldn't run 15 yards. Pity it's not correct otherwise I'd put my name down for The Olympics.
Amazing - 1Km in 3 minutes: The GPS in my phone... - Couch to 5K

Can I have your phone please ? Lol
And Iβd be down to Ladbrokes to back you!
1000m world record is held by Noah Ngeny at 2'11" and he took it from Sebastian Coe (2'12") in 1999. And so your 3'00" will not qualify you for the Olympics, sorry
For accurate GPS positioning your phone will want to see 5-9 satellites. It can take quite some time to get a fix. So if you set off with your phone uncertain of where it has started from, then you get this type of error. Ideally you want a phone that supports Galileo and GLONASS, not just 'gps' meaning NavStar.
My running watch (Garmin ForeRunner 235) has an indicator that pretends to show the GPS signal strength (just like the '4-bar chart' cell-phone strength indicator on my phone). It is instead actually indicating the number of satellites it has locked. Despite the watch saying "GPS is ready" I always leave it a few more seconds to get a stronger lock.
No GPS probably because I rushed out of the house this morning. Usually I'm in no hurry but today my son needed a lift to the railway station and I had to be back. Disappointed that I wouldn't make the Olympics though π€
Haha, yes I think you should definitely sign up for the olympics based on that!
Ooh, I wouldn't quibble with that!
Go you.... !!!
I was thrilled with a personal record of 5.17.... Give me your secret Ha ha...
My Strava link has me running on water too
It's like one of those soap opera stories where the guy beats all the competition and wins the race only to wake up in the shower and find it was all a dream. Ah well, back to my usual steady pace next run π
