Week 5 Run 3 - 20 minutes, how on earth...

...did I manage that??

Never, ever, in my life have I run for 20 minutes continuously, without stopping, until this morning!

Wow, I still can't believe I did it. Not only that, I can't believe I wasn't a quivering heap on the floor afterwards.

I had planned to change my route for todays run, just for a bit of variety, but in the end I got cold feet and stuck to the usual circuit. I'm quite glad I did, as the 20 minute thing was a bit daunting. But I know that I do a lap of my circuit in around 4 minutes. So rather than think of running for 20 minutes, I thought of it as 5 laps.

Slight bit of a panic when I checked my watch to see how long I'd been going and saw it only say 3 minutes! But after that I just settled into it, ticked off the laps and before I knew it I was into the last 5 minutes.

In the 20 minutes I covered 1.49 miles (according to my Garmin) - getting on for 2.5KM. Not quite the blistering pace my imagination believed I was doing lol.

Feeling proper chuffed with myself today! :D

See ! See ! I knew you could do it ! Mind over matter....Don't worry about the speed you are going at the moment, plenty of time for that later on. Very well done and good luck for W6.

Nice one Peter. Well done. The W5R3 is a huge milestone and is one of the best feelings EVER when you conquer it's mighty summit! I remember my one well and getting home doing a one man conga!!

One word of warning - be careful of W6R1. After the rush of positive waves having completed W5R3 often folks on here go a bit mad at the next run, only to find out they come a cropper! I DID! I thought it'd be easy and it WAS NOT! So treat the next run with tentative respect and you'll romp home with a smile on your boat.

Good luck.

Well done, it feels good but like Danzargo says, the next run isn't as easy as you think it will be especially if like me you think it will be easy and go too fast. Good luck with W6.
