Running for the gate

I’m away from home at the moment, flew here yesterday from UK. Got to the airport bright and early 2.5 hours before flight was due to go. Oh my lord such queues at the automatic check in and baggage drop. Machines not working, or run out of paper for the baggage labels then not being recognised as being ticketed when trying to place them down the luggage chute . What a shambles. I’ve never flown from this particular airport before and I had not come across this system of checking in either. Eventually got rid of luggage, through security then looked at the flight board, gate closing!,,,,,, gate closing!,,, no I can’t miss the flight. I kid you not I picked up my hand baggage and I ran and ran and ran down the empty corridors to gate 14 where I was allowed to board the flight. I caught it by a minute, I’ve never ever been so close to missing a flight in my entire life. Thanks to C25K I made it, and thanks easyJet guys for letting me on.!,

So to those people who say to me, I don’t know why you bother at 66 to try and get fit, well I’m pretty sure I would not have made the gate pre C25K. The benefits are endless !

I think the look on my face when I saw gate closed must have been a picture. I think the people I rushed by at the Starbucks coffee point in the airport must have thought there was a fire.!

I had an urge to run all the way along the departure gates at Dulles airport last night. Looked like a perfect place for a long run, with the opposite problem - a long wait for the plane. Resisted the urge, so wasn't taken away for questioning! Glad you made the flight! Running has many benefits!

Yes it will be a while before I forget running down to the gate, it was so strange, nobody about at all. I dare say someone will have a chuckle when they see me on cctv!
