Oops!

I’m on run 8.3 and about half way round felt a snapping feeling in the back of my calf. I slowed/walked back home and it is a little stiff but not too bad; applied compression bandage and muscle relaxant. Just wondering if you have experienced similar and how long it took to recover!

Did it feel like a pop? Is there any swelling? Where abouts on your calf is it?

Thanks for reply, I thought more of a snap than a pop if that makes sense. No swelling I can see. Lower third of calf but above ankle.

Can you move your foot through the normal range of motion?

It's probably worth getting it checked. If it's your Achilles it can be really serious if you don't get it sorted out properly. If it's muscle, then rest and compression will sort it in about 6 weeks. I'd also recommend getting a bit of ultrasound done on it to loosen it up.

Hopefully it's just a little pull that you can stretch out and recover from quickly.

Thanks for the advice. Motion and rotation is fine so I think it is just a tear. Did my archiles a few years ago and this is no where near as painful.

I did, yes Just a short steady jog round the block. Everything fine then stab! 🤨😖.

How long it takes to get better depends on the severity. I had a micro tear which took five weeks. I tried twice to run on it but it was clear it was too bad. So, I gave in and did no running for three full weeks I Iced it and elevated it whenever possible I used my husband’s TENS machine too

Take care won’t you and hopefully you will soon be back out there 🙂👍
