Today I went out for a run and after the last couple of weeks doing 30 mins but not quite hitting 5K I thought today I'd do 5k. It was really windy today too so I felt like it was slow going as the wind always seemed to be in my face, even when I changed direction the wind also seemed to change!

My Garmin measures my distance in miles and I was happily plodding along, looking a sight being bright red with hair flying everywhere. I was getting towards 3 miles and finding it tough. My wonderful (ahem) maths had me thinking converting 5k to miles came out as 3.4 miles so kept pushing on finding it hard. At 3.4 miles I stopped running, feeling tiered but happy I'd done the 5k and was even happier when Garmin told me it was my fastest 5K. But, it also told me it was my furthest run. Feeling confused as I've run 5K before, I looked on my computer when I got back home, only to find out 5k is actually 3.14 miles and I had actually ran 5.47K.

Was quite chuffed though that it was my fastest 5k even though it was really windy. I'd been running for a total of 50mins!!!!

Think I should go back to school and redo my maths though!!!!!! LOL

Well done! I struggle with miles as I think in km for running and for driving, miles! 5k is a challenging distance so good for you, I stuck to 5k for many weeks until I found it comfortable. One day it would seem to take forever, another day, I loved it! What r u planning next?? 😀

Not really got a plan in place. I think I'll just keep going and try to get a little faster and when I can a little further. I'm just enjoying being out there running and breathing in the fresh air.
