Interesting W7 R3

So, although pouring with rain yesterday, I committed to do W7 R3 with my running buddy. But to mix it up & because it was very wet out, I decided to run in my hiking boots as I need to wear them in before my Ben Nevis climb in early July. As soon as I started running, I tripped on a fallen branch, nearly went flat on my face & hurt my back in the process, but I didn’t stop!

Then a group of horses & very small foals decided to cross the path in the distance to get to the river where I normally run, so I had to change my route completely to ensure my dog didn't scare the horses. Just as well that I had my "waterproof" boots on as I ended up running in thigh high, soaking wet grass. That was tough! BUT I didn’t stop!

Then to top everything off, my wireless headphones died so had to run with not only my phone in hand but also the dog lead & water bottle. BUT I DIDN’T STOP!

Unfortunately, I discovered that my hiking boots are far from waterproof & I need a new pair before I scale the UK's highest mountain.

You know what, perversely, I still enjoyed it & glad I went because despite everything, I didn’t stop. Bring on week 8 & all the challenges that may bring.

Wow, you had so many things thrown at you on that run. I can’t Imagine running in hiking boots. Good to know before hand you need more waterproof ones. Not a long time to wear them in before your big hike. I know it is a big ask but over on the active 10 (used to be walking for health) we are always looking for inspirational posts, we would love to hear about your hike afterwards. 😀.

Sure, I will. It should be interesting as it is part of a team building session for 15 middle aged office bound execs. I just hope everyone is taking the training seriously & haven't under estimated the challenge. Running in my boots wasn't actually too bad & I would do it again but need to remember to pick my feet up a bit higher when approaching obstacle on the ground :0)
