I graduated last year some time I can't even remember then running became one of those things you never have time for. But now slowly but surely I'm getting the bug back my first run in about 6 months and I managed a mile then about a week ago (there was a big gap in between) I hit 1.5miles.
I have started excercise classes and the woman who runs one of them wants us to enter into a local 5k race in 28 days 😲 can I be 5k ready in 28 days. And how do I do it?
Any advice greatly received.

Maybe enter and tell yourself that you are happy to slow jog or walk if needed? As you are back running again already, just try and get out for a run 3 times a week and run what feels comfortable, you could use the C25K app if you feel like you need the structure of it. You can gain a lot of stamina in four weeks, I say go for it!
I'm at 4.6k so far 😁 and there's definitely that 0.4k left in the bag. I'm juts not pushing myself to soon. I have found out since that my husband is working so got my mum to look after the boys but now I'm gutted they won't be there to cheer me on. Especially with it being my first 5k event.
you could try starting on week 6 and see if you can rebuild up to graduation if you still have some stamina left from before? Or start on week 5 run 3 and see if you can do it, then w6 run 3, then weeks 7, 8 and 9?
Nobody can tell you whether you are going to get injured or not and of course your general fitness has a lot of influence in this issue.
However, as a mentor whose purpose is to safely guide people towards running 5k, I would recommend following an appropriate training plan to condition your body to the demands of running 5k, before you attempt to run 5k............ C25K does this really well, but is a nine week course.
There are no safe quick fix routes to conditioning your body, without increasing injury risk.
You might get away with it.......you might get injured.
I would not advise it, but of course it is your decision.
Race or Run? My 5K park run was completed in 46’48”. Slower than if I had walked it perhaps? No matter. It was a personal achievement. They told me I was fourth!
In my age group.
Why are you doing this? As a race? To raise funds?, for fun? Or just to show that you can?
Choose one or more.
Perhaps go back to week 6 or 7 and recap those last few runs for the C25k ? Whatever you do. Enjoy it!
