Beating Cancer Twice - Goal 1 achieved!

When I posted my C25k story a few weeks ago, many of you asked me to let you know how my goals were going. Goal 1 was to complete W9r3, which I did this morning with some energy to spare, so I'm feeling elated. Goal 2 is a non-stop Parkrun; I've put it in my diary for June 15, as a birthday present to myself!

For anyone who doubts they can complete the programme, Week 1 was the hardest one for me and it has got easier each week despite the increasing running times. I have even been able to sneak some extra minutes into my runs in preparation for my Parkrun (which is going to take a lot more than 30 minutes), and during my Week 9 runs I have found myself able to think about more enjoyable things than just reaching the finish. I am on a high, and everyone is telling me how well I'm looking. It's well worth the effort!

Congratulations on Graduating Altair2. Report to the admin wonderful people. They will be polishing your badge right now.

What next? Read the FAQ POST C25K -what next? I chose some consolidation runs. More W9 runs with Laura, then C25K+Stepping Stones, which I find helps with breathing and speed. Just a little speed, I am happy now just to maintain this unbelievable level of fitness. You may want to press on to 10K and beyond? Enjoy your runs.

Thank you, Iannoda. The link is full of good sense, but I know I shall have trouble in taking it easy - that much was true years ago when I was young and fit! However, now I'm older I'm also a little wiser, so I hope to do it right.

Well done. I did my first parkrun on the first Saturday after I graduated and I did it in a shade over 37 minutes. Yesterday I got my PB down to just over 33. I may, one day, get below 30 minutes but for now, I'm just amazed I can run 5k non-stop.
