So upset

Have had calf pain for a couple of weeks but have managed to do all the runs but today had to stop after 6mins of the second 10 minute run. Week 6 run 2. This is the first time I haven’t completed the run and don’t know what to do now. Should I rest for a while?

I didn't complete my w7r1 on Friday and I was devastated. The lovely people on here suggested repeating it after a rest day and this morning I completed it and feel much better about things. I was surprised by other people who said they had to repeat runs but it made me feel much better about myself 😊

Always remember the First Rule of C25k: The only run you fail is the run you don’t go for 😄

How disappointing! But look how far you've come. Like so many problems, don't give up and you'll overcome them. It's great we can always ask others for advice :)

Make a note of how far you got and aim to beat that next time. Repeat as necessary until you conquer it. There’s no need to worry: some people do pound straight through this in nine weeks but they’re a minority. You’re asking a lot of changes from your body and it’s just asking for a little more time to adjust. This is very common, and it’s why the app has a repeat function 😀 Took me nine weeks of repeats just to conquer week 1 😂

As to your aching calves, learning some stretches might help ? I did the NHS Strength and Flex podcasts on my rest days and they really help. All the best with your journey x

Lots of good advice here to which I would just add, listen to your body. Are you doing your stretches, staying hydrated and taking your rest days? Have you had a bit longer between runs to give your calf longer to recover? I was in the same place as you - got to the last minute of the last run of week 6 and ping, someone came and kicked me in the calf (that’s what it felt like anyway). I left it a week and tried the run again and my calf niggled and grumbled all the way round. It felt bruised if I massaged it and my friends recommended a trip to the physio - who confirmed a little tear in the calf muscle. Not serious but enough to put me on the IC for a few weeks to give it chance for full recovery. I’ve just re-started back to week 3. As I say, listen to your bod! Hope it’s all on the mend soon, good luck!
