WK8 R2 - Upset and frustrated.

First of all well done Polly2810. Only four to go which is where I thought I would be tonight.

At about 1.9km all was going well until I felt a twinge in my right hamstring. I have had these before and thought it would settle. I ran on until 2.3km and as it felt tighter and I hope to run 5km in a park run on Saturday I stopped.

I am angry with my body for doing this to me. I am so enjoying being fit again. Maybe it was the gym last night? Only an hour induction but I did do 15 minutes on the treadmill amongst other things.

Will my leg recover for Saturday? What can I do now to help it?

I am desperate to get to end of week 9.

Keep on running......

Rest days......non impact..... what do we say........

Injury is frustrating and invariably comes without warning, but invariably as a result of overdoing things.

I can't offer advice on hamstring injuries apart from rest, hope and pray but if there is the slightest sign on Saturday, best to do the wise thing and put off the parkrun.

Have a look on runnersworld.com to see if they can offer specific advice.

Hope you get better soon.

I hear your desperation and I hear your pain. I wonder whether you are a bit fixed on distance and if that has got you in to trouble. At this stage of running I think that you should be focussing on time; 28 minutes at a sustainable pace. Please do take care!

I don't know about the injury I don't have enough experience to advise. Listen to IannodaTruffe

I agree with IannodaTruffe take it easy - I know how much you want to get to the end of week 9 (i'm in exactly the same place as you - so close you feel you can almost touch it), but more important that you don't put yourself in the IC for a few weeks. Slowly slowly catchee - graduate badge.

Just slow down.... that is all... just take it slower... :)

I can understand your frustration, especially since you've been clocking up the runs nicely. I think it's the usual RICE treatment, and it seems like the only cure is 'time' which probably means Saturday is unlikely to be okay for you. But if it's minor you could be up and running soon.

Am hoping it's a minor one so you can keep going...

The NHS pages are quite instructional, I thought.
