1at Park Run...oh dear

That went sooo badly. lol. Took me about 45 mins. Had to slow to a walk 3 times, felt sick and really did not enjoy it...at the time. Now I'm back home, rehydrated, showered and fed, I'm glad I did it. I might even stop sweating at some point.

Next time, start slower, have banana instead of cereal and water not tea. Especially if it's hot.

Have a good weekend everyone.

aw thanks, it's just a bit frustrating grinding down to a walk and seeing 399 other people running.

i walked some on my first 2 prs and overtaken by kids, grannies and pushchairs.

it very easy to get pulled along by the crowd and burn out early but it is all experiance and you know more about what to expect next time.

just back from my 7th today and sat here waiting for results :)

Well done ! You did it ! Doesn’t matter about the time, main thing is you got out there 👍

Well done getting out there and doing it. And that’s what you did - you DID it. Just like working through the C25K programme, every run is progress. This is the first one so you know you can finish it and next time you’re likely to need less walking time. Slow and steady as many on this forum say! 👍

Wow! I think 45 minutes is brilliant! I couldn't do that....i would be lucky to finish under an hour! Well done for getting out there and doing it, you should be proud!

Well done for completing the course. Today was a difficult parkrun as it was very hot. Many had to slow / walk today. Parkrun 2 will feel better, Keep going🏃🏽‍♀️🏃🏽‍♀️🏃🏽‍♀️

I did my first one today too - came in at 46:59 mins! I'm proud of that, lol. Even with walking a bit you still beat me!

It's not a bad run, ur first one and you finished it, time doesn't matter, well done 👍😁

Congratulations on beating me. Well Done You. I took 46’48”, and was delighted with that for a first 5K. Delight in your success.

Well done!!!!!

I’m on my 4th my first 2 we’re done in under 38 mins and now they’re increasing. I know I’m pushing myself was completely pass out exhausted at the end, tons of uphill. On my last one I was 40mins plus ... I was about to sulk then I reminded myself. 6 months ago you never said run without the word can’t in front of it you struggled to run for 5 mins running on an incline was out of the question. Now here you are willingly running alongside runners of all ages and abilities, being part of it. The win is getting yourself there, being brave enough to join in &being part of something. When I was having a wobble somebody commented on my post “finish lines not finish times” i say it to myself as I’m doing the third lap, at my local PR. In my head of course.....we’re keeping going getting those 5ks in the bank and that’s the win!! 😊👏

Well done! Nothing bad about your PR except how you felt. I find that proper breakfast at least an hour before works (and no tea) and then I go straight to tea and cake after. Walking is fine, I did so on my last run, best to finish!

like your style, Couchpotato2, especially the tea and cake after. Thanks, will try again next saturday.
