Still working on getting faster

I’ve had a bit of a lazy week, my husband finally got home after being away for work for 12 days, and I kept saying to him ‘I need to go for a run’ and then actually changing my mind because it was so nice just to be spending time with him.

Finally put my big girl pants on and got up early this morning - clothes on, running shoes on, leave the house - to do the run my app required of me: warm up jog, run for 5 minutes at 5:44 min/km, cool down jog.

Merlin is still on lead only walks, so I only had a few sheep, and horses for company.

I was pleasantly surprised that I got any ‘on pace’ beeps from my Garmin, as I had a rubbish night’s sleep last night - hot flushes are no fun when the weather starts getting warmer - and I know I didn’t manage to maintain it, but I did my best.

Well done for making yourself do it. I can imagine that once you’ve graduated it can be easy to lose momentum and motivation to continue running.

I sometimes look for excuses but am always glad when i’ve completed a run. 😊

I’m currently coming back after an injury, and I really am finding, this time round, that if I don’t get out in the morning then I don’t get out at all.

Well done. I’m going to start interval training again after my holidays. It’s hard work but pays off. I did 5K yesterday afternoon and actually did a 5:44 min/Km average pace.

I’ve never been that speedy, and at my age probably won’t ever be, but I’m enjoying the attempt.

Great run... that pace will start to feel more comfortable and then you’ll be able to take it longer. These runs only call for best effort and you gave that, so it’s perfect. Enjoy a nice recovery run next time out.
