Although my ankle swelling is reducing the stiffness is still there but relieved by regular stretching. I am unable to completely rest so have been walking around the house doing bits than having a break, taking regular ibuprofen, elevating my legs and ice. So although I am having to postpone my w6r1 probably another day until stiffness and swelling has gone completely. I will be returning to the plan🎉. I’m just going to slow it down a little further and relax. My question though is do I need to repeat wk5 r3 Although I completed it or can I crack back on with wk6r1?

No idea on what you should do runwise (I'm sure someone more experienced will give good advice there), but I just wanted to say that I'm glad it's getting better, it did look painful !

Sorry about the swelling on your ankles, don't run until the swelling goes down, if not long, continue with your running, however, if it takes a long time to go down, which I hope it doesn't, you may consider repeating any runs you wish to, I just hope that isn't necessary.

Thanks. I won’t run until swelling and stiffness has gone completely. I have my guard husband making sure of that. It’s going down so hopefully another couple of days at most. If it takes any longer I will repeat week 5 🤞

Swelling is not good news, normally. I'm not a doctor and l can't give you any diagnosis but l experienced swelling in my ankle which turned from discomfort to pain. I carried on running regardless, soldiering on, as idiots do. The ankle problem developed in week 7, l managed to plough on and even graduate. On my graduation run the pain was a killer, l could hardly walk back to my car. Anyways, l ran through inflammation and could've been much worse.

After three months of treatments (physio and osteopath) l returned and repeated the whole program. Please, whatever you do, do not do what l did. Wait until it's all healed, you won't lose anything, you're not training for the Olympics, the runs will wait. And, oh, l forgot, the treatment cost a fair bit. You definitely don't want that path.

Finally, try and find out what caused the swelling. Have you done gait analysis! Have the shoes been recommended/supplied by the same guys who assessed you? Do you need insoles? Do you run hard/fast? Your stride too long? Rest at least a day between the runs?

Hi thanks, yes I’ve had gait analysis done, Yes the same people supplied my shoes, I don’t intend on running until swelling has completely gone. I always have at least one day between my runs anyway. My ortho dr has said I’m good to run when swelling and stiffness has gone, I have been told to expect it periodically over the next year because of my previous lisfranc fracture on one leg and stress fracture on other leg. (This nurse no longer wears heals for weddings!) thank you for you advice though.

Cool, all good then. Remember not to push it though, this is about health and fun, not competition. I'm glad you've got it under control! 😀 And don't shy away from repeating runs, you can only get more comfortable by doing it. All the best!

Thanks , if I have to repeat it’s no big deal it’s a journey for me not a destination and besides fail is just first attempt in learning!😂

On this forum they say, roughly two weeks is the cut off time to not repeat.

Your health and wellbeing is so important. Do not run/walk while the swelling is dwelling.
