Well done for getting started. I'm the same, like you I want to lose weight, quite a lot! I'm on week 6 now and have lost half a stone - am watching what I eat too. I plan on keeping this going as part of a more healthy lifestyle. Now to cut down on the wine! 😂
Thanks I'm doing slimming world too so trying this to boast my weight loss
Well done on starting the program.
Take extra care of your sugar level and hydration. If any problem, slow down or stop.
As Percyp73, watch your diet. That is a bigger contributor to weight loss.
Hi, well done for starting the c25k program. It is for everyone. Take the run sections nice and steady and recover during the walk breaks. The program works and there will be plenty of advice and encouragement on this forum. Remember to keep hydrated by drinking plenty of water, after your run and throughout the day. Do some gentle stretches after your run while your muscles are still warm. Do check out the link llanodatruffe has given you. Good luck!😊
I did C25K about 2 yeas ago before I had some health issues, I lost 2-3 stone over a 4 month period, after the health issue I'd put it all back on plus extra.
Just take it slow and steady, as already mentioned watch your diet, I've change from 3 meals a day to 5-6 with a cap of 1500 calories per day mainly low carb.
Ensure you do something on your rest days, there are the podcasts here: nhs.uk/live-well/exercise/s...
Or you could just aim to reach 10k steps every day.
Thanks I do slimming world to am controlling what I eat and have lost over a stone so far. I normally do over my 10k steps too 😊
Good luck BigBird, hope you do well. The support on here is great, so let us know how you are doing
Snap, I started this program in Feb this year for the same reason. Take your time, add runs to your calendar (make time) and as previously mentioned change your diet and cut down the calories and cut out biscuits, cakes, crisps sausage rolls and stuff like that. I shook my head when I started and thought “NO WAY”. Well I have lost 2 stone (probably more now) and can jog for 4 -5 Km now. Another benefit is my BP is a bit lower and in general feel so much better.
You “can do it too” - this is the best forum to help you on your journey as “encouragement” is is standard on here.
Good luck and give it your best shot, you will not regret it. 🏃♂️😎
Getting started is the hardest part so well done for that! If you stick to the programme (not necessarily the timings - I'd say take as long as you need to move up through the weeks) then the rewards will be great, honest. That first 5 minute run, first 1km etc. will give you a feeling of such achievement. Baby steps and persistence will get you there. Good luck!
The best of luck to you as you work your way through the plan.... if you take it at your pace and celebrate your successes you will see the benefits go way above and beyond weight loss. Although, I have to admit getting in shape was my main motivation.... now it’s about all round health and well being..... I really look forward to reading about your journey.... if you get stuck or hit a psychological barrier.... shout out in this forum- you’ll get sound advice and true compassion xx
Welcome to the forum and to a whole new running adventure. It's an amazing programme that will challenge you physically and mentally and leave you feeling absolutely flabbergasted at what you can achieve!
It's literally changed my life. I started at the beginning of the year and have lost almost 3 stones. I feel about 10 years younger. The only problem is, I've got to go out and buy a whole new wardrobe!
I wish you every success. This forum is amazing for the advice and encouragement you get to keep you going.
Good luck Bigbird , you’ll receive loads of support on this forum 👍
