I really wanted to finish my C25k journey by doing my first Parkrun but I'm giving blood tomorrow so couldn't leave my graduation run til Saturday. So I decided to run through as many of my towns parks and green spaces as possible.
Some of you may remember I had a rather rubbish run on Tuesday due, in part, to the heat. Determined not to spoil tonight's run I donned my shorts π±π» (seriously there isn't a leg emoji?!) got about 30 feet up the road and they had already ridden up in a most unattractive way. Quick about turn to change into my Capri runners. Ah that's better π€
Set off up the hill Laura doing her pre run pep talk. I'll miss her. Noted the cow parsley was not fragrant this evening, but less flies yay ππ Across the road into green space no1. Through the field and into the wood. Feeling good and keeping a steady pace as i run along side the Roman earthworks and ww2 anti tank thingies (never sure if that should be with a y π€) past the pond and onto the road. Cross the main road and on into the old barracks site, with a very pretty tree lined square (green space 2), out the other side to a park in the grounds of a former mental hospital. UnfitNoMore that one was for you xxx I even did a victory arm wave whilst runningπ luckily no men in white coats to take me away π€ͺ
On to the rugby club. Lovely to see a bunch of dad's and sons having a kick about. Down the grassy slopes of park no 2, under the trees and through the carpark. Oh poop another busy road to cross. Annoying as I'm in a good rhythm. This is sooo much easier than W9R2. Lovely Laura tells me 5 more minutes to go. Wow that's gone quickly today π. Through park number 3. It has the most amazing cedar trees. Thought I'd take the bark covered track as it was more direct. Note to you all! New bark chippings are horrible to run on. Luckily the track was short. A quick right and left down this road and I'll be... oh bugger I've not come out where I thought I would π€¦ββοΈ ok let's try up here, round this corner and yeah park no 4. This is my favourite park, and was being enjoyed by many tonight. A quick sprint past the cricket nets, as one didn't have a back on. Presumably the young chap was confident in his batting skills as they kept bowling with me in striking distance π€― and that was me done. Just the 5 minutes warm down walk to do. For extra parkrunedness (new word alert!) I walked part of route the juniors use. Out the park and heading to a newly discovered oasis. Walking through town and kid you not I'm am outside the Chinese when Laura says congratulations you've finished. Was I tempted? Hell yes but it would have been stone cold by the time I got home.
At this point I could have headed home but I still hasn't reached my oasis so kept walking, with a stupidly happy grin on my face π. And so glad I did. The gardens are beautiful and peaceful yet in the heart of the city. I took the picture there. This tree seemed quite symbolic of our many journeys. Old, a little thicker round the girth and battered by the passage of time. Yet still strong, regenerating and full of life.
I could waffle on so much more but I will try to wrap this up.
How do i feel now? Dead chuffed! I am very proud of me πͺπββοΈπ€
However, I couldn't have done it without all of you. The unstinting support from you all has been awesome. (Now I've made my eyes leak) So please, my VRBs, take a bow, you deserve it.
And finally the very best of luck to all on this journey but especially to my fellow week niners. You've got this πππ

Congratulations! Great running... and no men in white coats is always a bonus π€£
Celebrate well... youβve certainly earned it, consolidation awaits as do many more running adventures... keep smiling, keep running, keep being awesome.
Youβre a victory... your hard work and a clever little plan to follow has enabled you to become not only a runner, but a stronger person physically and mentally. You can do anything. Itβs been a pleasure to have been a passenger on your journey to a healthier, fitter, happier you.
Itβd be great to meet up at some point... and yeah, Iβm partial to apple juice π€£
there you go my running C25K writing buddy knew you would do it and a very MASSIVE HIGH 5 to you. Hold that wonderful grinning face feeling as this has been a journey that you will not forget and to think look back on when you have a crap run at some point in the future. I felt quite at a loss for awhile after finishing week 9. No more coaching in my ear etc. However I am still carrying on and now love the freedom at the moment of choosing my time, my day, my distance. Over to bridge to 10K now?? I am a newbie on there and a welcoming bunch they are too. Please keep on posting and giving your wonderous experience to those just starting. Happy future runningx
I'll stick with a bit of consolidation first, see how I go. Getting to 5km is my next target. I can't see myself doing 10 π tbh this time last year I would have laughed at had anyone said I'd be running for 30 mins!
You're so right. I think more relaxed as this time I knew I could yet to wk7 as been there done that last year. Determined because I was annoyed that SAD got in the way. Hoping I'll be so in love with running by clock change that I'll make it through the winter πͺπ§
I started week7 today, slow and steadyπ’ , think I am doing ok thanks- its still hard but recovery time quicker and determined I am going to graduateππ
Go you indeed and well done graduate! Flying to UK tonight so will graduate after my jetlag with my final 2 runs in UK. Hope you keep posting, will miss the laughs! X
Thank you x Hope the flights been ok and that you get to grad run somewhere nice. Your pics of the lake are so pretty it would a shame to be pavement pounding for the last bit x
Yeh I am still a secret runner and so far not been caught. My race is the end of June. So so so nervous tho. Desperately hope the sun doesnβt shine π°. Following Juju 10K plan and ran 9k last week ππ»ββοΈππ»ββοΈπ±π±. Great bridge of 10K and Iβm sure youβll join us there soon ππ»ββοΈππ»ββοΈππ»ββοΈππ»ββοΈ
Not bad! Im in the midst of my exams for my biochemistry degree and haven't been running as much as I would like but this has really motivated me to get back into it!
Oh wow, very best of luck with the exams x remember exercise is good for the brain x even if you just get to do 10 mins round the block it will help xxx
Hi. Yes, thank you . Taking it slowly , doing each run twice. So doing my second week 4 at the moment. Had a week off for a holiday π. Itβs great as when I have done the repeat of each week I am really ready to move on . Loosing more weight by doing this and eating healthily . Feeling really well. Love running in woodland , though a bit hilly. If the hill gets too much , I turn around and run down π. I must look a bit mad. X
ππππππποΈ What a wonderful way to graduate! The bridge to 10 forum is great for consolidating, I used it a lot before I was ready to increase my distance, come over and have a peep π (c25k is also brilliant of course!)
Congratulations! Sounds like such a great run, loved reading your post ππ You must feel over the moon! Week 9 starts in an hours time for me I hope it goes smoothly, it's quite hot here already. ππΌββοΈππΌββοΈβ
Fantabulous, sounds like you really enjoyed your graduation run. Congratulations and well done. So pleased for you πββοΈππΌπ
Hope I feel so good on mine tomorrow. Got beginnings of a sore throat today π¬ so hoping itβs not getting any worse to stop me going out. Iβll be gutted π€ͺπ₯΄π³
Well done! This is a great inspirational group. Iβm planning wk9r3 for Sunday, as a 56yr old and 4 stone overweight ( havenβt lost any weight whatsoever but just booked a holiday for August , so trying low carb from now) I canβt believe that I managed this far without any problems. So glad youβve made it, hopefully Iβll be there on Sunday x
Thank you x I will consolidate for a couple of weeks and see how I feel. I have a 5k event in 4 weeks so will need to start adding time to my weekend run as not up to 5k yet x
