I Was Told C25K is A Slippery Slope, but..

Having come down with a bad cold instead of completing a park run and being on my final run today after a week off I set off for week 8 run 3. I was still a bit snuffly but I remember our PE teachers telling us exercise when ill is good for us and I was getting itchy to be doing exercise again. So, I set off on my warm up walk and, stupidly decided to head to the local recreation area instead of driving to the lovely flat cricket pitch.

All good, and started running... Slow but steady... Then to the top of the little grassy bank, slower and gently and just as I thought, oh that looks slippy, I decided to skoot down the bank on my leg. Just as Laura told me that I had ran 5 minutes.

Yet, instead of giving up, I picked myself up and ran, gingerly at first and I had gone down on the knee which previously had been damaged by falling over and tearing the ligament.

No pain, so gently on I went. Once more round the meadows, down the slope again (keeping upright this time) then out along the main road, up another hill and finally Laura told me that I had ran 28 minutes. Just a shame that I had miscalculated my route so had a 20 minute walk home, through the town centre, covered in mud.

Hot bath and a couple of twinges but all good! I survived and onto week 9 (I presume deciding to slide a metre doesn't make it a fail).

Well done for carrying on many would have used the excuse to stop but you didn't, look out week 9 this girl is coming to get you

Thanks, to be honest part of me was so annoyed at falling over I decided not to be beaten! Stubborn Northerner syndrome.

Yay, well done 😃 A hot bath is great. I go straight in afterwards with a hot cuppa tea. Love it! We all get mucky and wet but it's part of the fun 😃

Hopefully, not on every run though 😁👍

Hopefully not! My debut for park run would be memorable though if I miss it on my bottom!

Well done. Was the slide slower or faster than the run? Because if it was faster then you are not slow and steady down the slippery slope.

It was a graceful slow slide from the skid mark I left and lack of pain... Felt quick at the time though. I am obviously so ingrained into the slow and steady that even my falls are slow 😊

No pain this morning, which is always good :)

I reckon, assuming that you can at all, getting going again helps to dissipate all the adrenalin that is suddenly released with a fall.

Well done!

Oh another sign of being a Proper Runner with tales from the battlefield...! Glad it wasn't more serious.

It's pretty much a rite of Passage 'round this way to have a tumble :) Well done on the run - you did not quit :)
