I've had a gait analysis and got the correct footwear. However my right knee is causing sone pain when running outside.
There are so many knee supports so I thought I'd see if anyone has a good suggestion. I'm out again tomorrow night with running group so I'm hoping to prime deliver before then!
I've not got thin tiny thighs so I thought Velcro would be better as the sleeve type ones fall or roll down.
Thank you fellow runners.

Hello. I too suffered terrible knee pain which prompted me to look up and use knee and glute strengthening exercises. I also took ibuprofen. I repeated the same run (wk 3) for three weeks until my knee pain began to subside and then moved on through the program. It gradually went away completely and I haven’t suffered since. I graduated two weeks ago and still maintain those exercises with my consolidation runs.
Hi, I too suffered with terrible knee pain that started in one knee and was quickly affecting both. It was due to weak quad muscles and tight IT band all of which was basically making my patella track incorrectly and causing inflammation and so I tried a patella support , elasticated support and an open patella support.
I found the open patella supports were good in the way they were so supportive but they have a negative side of that they feel a little restrictive and boy did my knee areas sweat!! They are quite bulky too under leggings.
Once I did strengthening exercises and let them fully recover , I went back to week 1 (I was on about week 3 or 4) and started slowly again with the patella straps which I also found good and supportive and over the course of the programme , I then went to the elasticated bandages and now don’t wear anything on my knees and they, touch wood feel so much stronger so don’t lose faith!
Now my problem is left shin and previous to that was right Achilles! 🙄
Many thanks for sharing. I don't want the pain to shunt my progress so I stop. I think I'll get a Velcro strap on support for now and wear outside leggins.
