Hi All- well after practising 5k on holiday in The New Forest🌳 I came home to do the 5k I signed up for thinking it would be a good finale to c25k ! Anyway I was scared! Started stone last x walked the first hill and thought ‘I can’t do this’! But then sensible head kicked in and I thought ‘don’t be silly youve done do well see it through! A lovely undulating ( some hills) and 43.46 mins later I crossed the finishing line! I came 282nd out of 311 and I am very pleased with myself!! Roll in the next 5k run 🏃‍♀️ I’m gonna get that time down!!! Proud of myself and proud of all my fellow runners!!! You can do it.. I did!!

Nice you went for the 5k. Was it a race?

Congratulations on your past run and signing up for the next one.

Very well done! You must have the sense and pride of achievement.

When is the next race? Do you follow a program to prepare for it?

Sorry elisabeth3 I didn’t reply ! I’m repeating the 5k again and again on the App. I’m aiming to get quicker each week ! 🤞I’m lucky to ha e a field that I run around with Adobe hill a flat and an uphill so I go round 5/6 times. As I’m slow I’m doing a warm up and then starting the 5k App and at the end using the cool down . So basically I’m using the full 40 mins (this covers 2.9 miles so very soon I’ll be up to 3.1 then improve on that until I’m down to 30 mins-5k . I’m enjoying it do much and I don’t mind how long it takes to achieve this - and I don’t anticipate beiNG a fast runner ever so I’d be more than happy with what I’ve achieved ! In a few weeks I’m going to experience a park run ! Have two close by - one flatish and one hilly so watch this space!!!!!

Your aim is sub30... I am happy for you, and it seems that speed can improve.

But for me that is a time I would never achieve. My dream was 35 minutes that I later adjusted to 38. Even that didn't happen. I am slow, compared to others. But I am happy that I run (aka jog) at all.

Parkrun is a genius idea, even though I am slow, that is a platform I can attend.

Thank you elisabeth3 ! This forum is fab! Well I’m going to set my goal differently now thanks to you ! I think as long as we enjoy it and achieve the 5k (almost) we can do it in our own time ! On wk 1 day 1 I didn’t envisage I’d get to wk 1 day 2 let along training for 5k!!! I did a 5k race (earlier post last week) started last as was ‘scared’ and came 29th from last! I’d only run solo before so Parkrun will be my next goal! My husband is so proud of what I’ve achieved and is boasting to anyone that will listen he he! All the best.

If you are capable of sub30 or less, go for it, by all means.

I only said that I am not. If I had raced with you, I would have been among the 28 behind you. Lol. 😁🏃

Congratulations and well done Samm-Lou! - don't forget to grab your shiny Graduate badge! 🏆🥇

I assume it was a parkrun you did? I've got to get myself to one of those. All the best on your next 5k - I've got 30 minutes to run tomorrow and will try to reach 5k, might have a bit more of a relaxed run though, undecided at the moment 🤔
