FROM 6” HIGH HEELS TO RUNNING SHOES

When I started C25K I remember sharing with my virtual running buddies that I was used to wearing six inch heels and hated trainers, I even stayed bare foot for the first 4 weeks.

Anyhow now just 4 months down the road and guess what - I pick out my running shoes over my heels now to go to the shops 😱

My partner is not so happy and keeps saying you won’t go all “ Ath leisure” will you ?😂

So this weekend I’m going to try my heels again - clearly not for a run but to see if I can still walk in them.

As for the running that’s going good I do 3 or 4 good runs a week all sticking around 30- 40 min run time 10 mins of warm up/ down and covering 6/7k all in as an average. I’m happy with that and I can achieve within my week quite easily so sticking with it as it appears to be working.

Happy running everyone.

High heels are a disaster for your Achilles tendon.

Stay away from the killer heels - your feet will thank you for it!

My heels have got lower the older I've got!! At 49 I just can't handle them anymore!

I’m 53 and I’m hearing you - think I’ll have to do kitten heels from now on x

I am 39, and 4’10, naturally I’d love to be taller but always been mindful of how bad heels can be. I’m always in comfy trainers or walking shoes most of the time as I’m quite active. I save the heels for work in the office environment, and stick to M&S court shoes (insolia range) and occasionally (very occasionally) dressing up going out and weddings! But I can’t wait to take them off as soon as I put them on! 😂

I wish I could wear heels. I know they are not good for your feet but they look so nice and I’m quite short. But I just find it hard to walk in them and not look like a toddler wearing their mum’s shoes 😂

Nice work with the running though!

Thanks

I know exactly what you mean re the heels I’m only 4’10” that’s why I’ve always worn them but since running I must confess the lower the better now 👠👡🥿👟

I hear you, I’m short too. I rarely wear heels! X

Hahaha. I have the opposite problem. I’ve always worn sneakers and never wear heels. I wore flats at my wedding and wear flats to work daily. My husband would probably be beside himself if I wore heels but I just can’t seem to walk in them.

Happy Running!

You’ve done your feet a massive favour. Feet often get neglected and need the most care in our physiology as they carry us around all day! Achilles can be so painful, I had it last year for a few months and I do not even wear heels so much!

hi Welsby running bud....so pleased you are doing well.

i am still on this page as i dont feel the need to do further than 5k.

went with my dogs this morning and done a canix`freedom` pr.

done 40 mins but got held up by someone`s loose dog so more like a 38 min.

both dogs are kitted out in lovely new harness which allows free shoulder movement.

my bestest pr was 34.44 so shows how you get drawn along by the group.

busy weekend again and looking forward to pr on 18th,think i will go and do the course again before then as there is a little hill at the end. x

Wowsers you’re doing amazing

I agree I’m happy at 30 and 40 min runs about 5 or 6k

I’ve still not tried a park run yet as I like the alone time although missangel287 has challenged me and to join her on a half marathon - maybe we all should.

Glad the dogs are doing well and getting lots of rosettes x
