Graduation run dedicated to DiscoRunner

DiscoRunner's dedication to the the 'World of Slow' is an inspiration to us all. I was utterly determined not to fall at the last hurdle this morning and ran so slowly that my max heart rate only made 132 rather than the usual 156 and I was at peak heart rate for my age for only 2 mins rather than the usual 30 mins which is graduating in a style that a "Steady Sloth" would be proud of and most enjoyable it was too. I realise that I had it much easier than most having no injuries, no ill health, have always run on little more than the flat and every run was on a dry day. If there's a choice of being good or lucky - be lucky! Thanks to all for their support and good luck and best wishes to all those working their way through the program but especially those, whether graduates or not, who aren't likely ever to make 5k in 30 mins because non-runners learning to run and then continuing for life to run three times a week for a full 30 mins, however slowly, is at the heart of C25K.

Good photo, GibsonBBKing, congratulations on completing C25K with week 9 run 3 and graduating, well done, onwards and upwards.

To get your graduation badge and the word GRADUATE 🎓 next to your username leave a message on the May graduate post in the pinned posts on the right side of the healthunlocked C25K home page and tell the administrators that you have ran W9R3 of C25K and graduated 🎓 🏃 😊

Well done on that graduation, I’m not a fast runner, I will NEVER do 5 k in 30 minutes and I’m a big fan of the Japanese jog! That’s lovely that you have dedicated the run to DiscoRunner as it was she who gave me the link to the slow running. Hope you can manage a beer or some ouzo tonight to celebrate!

How on earth did I miss this lovely post?! Many congratulations on your graduation - 11 days ago - and do kind of you to dedicate to me. I sometimes feel I bang on about it a bit too much but then it helped me *so* much, and then I read a post like yours! I feel that running can be for so many more of us if we slow down. I’ve really got into long slow runs - mostly between 45 mins to an hour - and I feel fitter and healthier than I have in years!

Happy consolidation running & if you want & when you’re ready you can start adding 5 or 10 mins to one run, and enjoy these lovely long slow runs. Here’s to a light breeze in your sails!

I reckon you’ve inspired a great many but a silent majority of them simply don’t actively blog. I see it all the time with YouTube guitar lessons - 500k views, 30k likes and 35 dislikes. That’s a lot of silent people who are watching, learning and taking inspiration who simply don’t hit the like button. Anyway, you talk from experience about running and therefore with some authority. I speak as a newby and I think of your advice In the third quarter (uphill) of every run. Many thanks again and keep posting.
