NEVER use the fail word here on C25K, sorry about your shins, take two days off running and try again, drink plenty of water the day before you run and run it a little slower than you did today.

You didnā€™t fail, you just didnā€™t run for quite as long as you wanted! Have you seen this - m.youtube.com/watch?v=9L2b2...

Itā€™s a low impact style of running I love & run this way all the time. You might think youā€™re running slowly, but thereā€™s always more slow to be had! x

Just call it a practice run take a few days rest then if your shins are ok try again. Make sure you're landing softly as possible so you don't hear thud thud when landingšŸ˜ŠšŸ˜Š

Donā€™t be disappointed because you went out to run in the first place and thatā€™s the important thing. Iā€™ve struggled with shin pain and find a rest then slowing down when you next run helps. You did the right thing to respond to the pain and stop. šŸ¤žšŸ»For speedy recovery.

You got half way through... so you crossed the start line... after that moment there is no fail. You ran half of that run... could you do that a few weeks ago? Bin that disappointment, and be proud of yourself. I recently set off on a five mile run and managed 4... Iā€™m proud of the 4, the other one doesnā€™t matter... I used to not be able to run that one on its own. Celebrate what you can and did do... rest the shins for a couple of days and then come back, slow and steady.

You feel disappointed because you're a fighter, that's why you've got this far, and that's why you'll graduate. What happened is normal, it doesn't matter how long you run you will get days like this. listening to your body and recovery are just as important as the actual running. Rest/hydrate... get something cold on those shins. When you think you're ready get back out there champ! šŸƒā€ā™€ļø šŸ„Š

You're running 25 mins!... It's absolutely incredible.

Thanks everyone, Iā€™m just so determined to be able to run for 30 mins itā€™s frustrating when I couldnā€™t complete a run Iā€™ve done before. I wonā€™t be giving up, Iā€™m just going to repeat that run.

Sorry if I used a banned word too šŸ˜¬

No f words please... blip... practice, trial run... whatever..:) You ran and you had to regroup:)

Rest up, with some lovely relaxing stretches and when you head out again... think snail on a go slow...land lightly... I call it, kissing the ground with your feet.... relax... and let the newly forming legs find their happy pace... These longer runs are perfect for starting slow and staying slow... you are going to be just fine:)

Have you followed the advice in the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5... on pacing, minimising impact and stretching after every run?

Have you followed the link in the guide to the post about mental approach? healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Are you wearing proper running shoes fitted after a gait analysis done at a specialist running shop, as advised in the guide to the plan?

You can do this, for sure, but following the advice passed on can make it so much easier than struggling.

Take care.

Be very careful with painful shins, if they develop into full-blown shin splints they can take months to get better, and give you agony all that time. As Iannoda says - have you got properly fitted running shoes? If so, I suggest going back to the shop, if not I strongly advise you to get some.

I've had shin splints, they were equal in pain to my herniated disc....

I am in exactly the same boat- I know this is an old post but it's nice to see it's not just me that faces these hurdles. I'm disappointed because I want to succeed but I have come so far. I managed 22 mins then I just couldn't go on. But, I've done W7 R1 so I know I can. The terrain was a bit harder this time and my toe was bleeding. I will pick myself up and do it next time. šŸ’Ŗ Good Luck Team.
