I’ve done consolidation run 11, 12 and 13 this last week and it’s been so hard!
I had done the ones previously with ease and was really enjoying consolidating. However the last 3 have been so difficult to the point that I can only manage the first 10 minutes without pain. After this my calves hurt a lot! And my ankles are in pain too! I’m running super slow to the point of a walk as I enjoy running the Japanese slow style. I drink around 3-4 litres of water a day and I do stretching too.
Has anyone had this before?
Starting to get disheartened with my progress

That does seem very odd (and mighty unfair), you’re drinking plenty of water and going super slow, I’ll be interested to see what others post. But maybe try a few days break from running? Keep walking or other exercise, but sometimes after I’ve had an enforced extra break in my running I come back better and stronger - maybe the body has had time for extra healing or something but it has happened every time. Don’t feel disheartened, we’re still quite novice runners, and our bodies are doing a lot of work to make us better, stronger runners - not just muscle, but bone cells, micro capillaries & all sorts - building strength to support our running. Hope you get your mojo back really soon x
Second what discorunner says - take a couple of extra rest days and do some non-impact exercise and stretching exercises (I googled for these when I managed to knacker the whole of my left leg from knee to bum - no idea what or how I did it but it hurt!) - at leat once a day and see how it goes?
Keep your body straight but try leaning forward slightly from the ankles, it makes you almost fall into the next step and takes a lot a stress off the calves and Achilles, worked for me 😀
