Gait analysis = little treat 😍

So after some sound advice from the Graduates on here regarding pain I was experiencing in my toes/ball of foot I went off to Brum city centre for a gait analysis. I was wearing a totally unsuitable supporting shoe that was rolling my right foot out and according to the analysis I needed a neutral shoe. I tried a few on and instantly loved the feel of a pair of Brooks road shoes. A further gait analysis whilst wearing them and they are perfect. Soooo comfortable..love them. Here’s to happy and cushion soled running 😊 Thanks Graduates 👍🏻

I am sure when you are running in your new shoes there is a difference between them and the trainers that you had previously.

Well I’m off to do W6R3 tomorrow morning. Was away visiting friends until today so had an enforced extra rest day. But looking forward to tomorrow. Have you done the 25min run?

Interested to know about this as I've got very high arches and don't feel my trainers are supporting my feet. However, I am also short of money. Does the gait analysis cost? Also how much are you looking at for a decent pair of running shoes?

The gait analysis was free and I didn’t feel under any obligation to buy from there. There was no pressure to make a purchase from them and the chap who did it was an experienced runner with a wealth of knowledge. Not sure where you are based but this was in ‘Snow and Rock’ in Birmingham. The shoes I got were definitely more than I was initially budgeting for (£130) but I had the benefit of 20% discount from Mountain Leader Association so it kept it nearer to my initial budget. They also do NHS and Military discounts. I believe Decathlon do a free gait analysis. If you tell a shop what your budget is I’m sure they could work with you to get the best your money will buy. I imagine it’s different for everyone..you could spend £100 on a pair that are advertised as brilliant but they don’t suit you or £50 on a pair that some people wouldn’t like but they are perfect for you. 😊

Hi Coco-Major

How did they test you? I had a gait analysis done today as well. I end up with brooks ghost shoes too. Unlike others, I didn’t have to take my socks off. Feels odd to ask but just worried I got the wrong type of shoes.

Enjoy your runs with your new shoes 👟

They watched me in the shoes I normally wear then gave me a pair of neutral shoes to wear and watched again. Socks weren’t an issue but I had to roll my trousers up so they could see what my ankles were doing too. Then with each pair I tried on they watched again. It was really interesting, he was pointing out the differences between what I originally had on and the more fitted shoes and explained all the aspects of what my heel strike was like and where I was landing and how much movement there was in my foot on landing etc. It was good to see and have it all explained to me 😊
