Morning all. I am currently training for the Dublin marathon so, as part of my preparations I thought I should get my gait analysis done. The guy said I was slightly over pronating and I bought the appropriate footwear. Unfortunately I have had pain in my left foot - particularly my heel - ever since. Any advice anyone?

Heel pain since gait analysis
Hi! I had one done at the weekend. The guy in the shop said that I might find I have some strange aches and pains initially and that is normal as my new trainers are helping to correct the way I run. Might be something to do with that?
Can't you take the shoes back? It seems odd that the pain only started since you got the shoes.
That's what I was thinking although I did wear them for about two weeks trying to give them time to grow on me!
That's the only way to try them though isn't it? I'd take them back. See what they say.
A wee update - went to an independent running shop and came out with a pair of (to give them their full title) Nike Air Pegasus 34 shoes - ran 5k that evening - no pain - ran 14 miles the next day - no pain! Put my asics back on - sore heel!!!! Looks like its Nike from here on!
How about also having gait checked again by someone different, second opinion can't hurt
Yes, go back to the shop and explain, see what they say.
Personally, I'd take them back - a pain that appears as soon as you get new shoes is a pretty strong sign that the shoes don't suit you. Two weeks is plenty of time to test them out. Hope you're feeling assertive.
Unfortunately I have to go to the other side of Belfast to return them!!!!!
I've had plantar fasciitis since February, that started with a slight bruised feeling in my heel, and quickly escalated to the point that I was hobbling, and sometimes couldn't put my foot on the floor at all. It's easing up now, but I've had 5 months of pain, trust me, you do not want to go there....most sports shops offer 28 day guarantees, if you leave it much longer you'll be too late....
Good thinking. One of my colleagues suggested that I should have broke myself into the new shoes rather than wearing them for every run for two weeks......
