Tired legs

My legs still feel heavy when going upstairs after my epic uphill nightmare 2 days ago. Want to do my last w9 run tonight so that I can squeeze in a run Saturday morning before a week away when I plan to rest my ankle etc. Planning a flat canal path run but predicting a hard one. 🤨

Are you drinking plenty of water on rest days and run days? That can really help. And if you’re struggling - slow down!

Apologies if I’ve posted this to you before (I do it to everyone- soz/not soz!) m.youtube.com/watch?v=9L2b2...

You could try giving this low impact technique a go - especially if you’re going to do two consecutive runs with a saw ankle (not really recommended). So maybe try this and if you feel more pain, please stop! You won’t lose any fitness for 2 weeks, but you could be prevented from running for much longer if you injure yourself.

Thanks for this. I’m drinking loads, my legs are heavy because it was a tough steep uphill run on Tuesday. Drinking loads but hope a gentle jog will ease it. I’m not doing consecutive runs but running today and Saturday. Then a full week rest on a sun lounger with feet elevated and liquid refreshment of the gin variety! 😂

I’m always impressed with anyone doing this in a hilly area! So well done you! And yes a gentle jog, followed by a gin retreat just what the doctor ordered!!

Hill running works different muscles, It's basically a strength workout. I know people who can run VERY fast on a flat course, but get them in the hills and they're struggling, they're just not used to it. It's not surprising that your legs are tired after that run you did.

Canal sounds like the way to go, take it slow and steady... Good luck. 👍👊🏃‍♂️

Thanks. Think I may even treat myself to a beverage at the nice pub on the canal at the end. To celebrate my C25k success!!!

Unbelievable as it seems, my legs didn’t ache at all, but when I climb the stairs, they feel like lead! Thanks for your support.

Well done you - I am a coward and do the warm up walk up an incline (not a hill btw) then start the run phase. The run phase is basically 30 mins (as of today) but flat. As it happens I always end up running down the incline I walked up earlier 🧐 - works for me. I reckon if I went up a hill I would burn myself out and lose the will.

Sounds very sensible to me! My ridiculous hill run was by no means planned. The only plan I have about it is never to do it again. 🙄
