Compression knee sleeves

Reading about compression leggings with added knee support, but they’re rather pricey. Discovered knee sleeves and read some decent reviews about how helpful they can be.

Anyone use them, or compression leggings? Curious how much difference they make.

My OH has used compression socks and finds they help with his calves and they are certainly a cheaper option to try out and see how you get on.

I use them! Only on one knee (I damaged my ACL many years ago and it flares up just from walking on occasion; it was definitely not happy when I began running!).

Theses are the knee sleeves I bought from Amazon amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07...

They’ve made a huge difference for me - I still have to be careful that I don’t over-extend or stretch my knee weirdly before or during my run, but it supports my knee such that running doesn’t aggravate it.

I can highly recommend them. In my experience they give a firmer support than compression leggings. I also wear compression running leggings, but they just give a slight squeeze to the entire leg, I didn’t find them effective for my knee at all. (Just between us girls, I bought the leggings because my backside was hurting from how much it was bouncing up and down when I ran, and they were great for solving that!)

Hope that helps 😁

Thanks KayBee1000. I’ve ordered one! Lately my knee has been hurting post run, and even a day later. (Previous ACL injury and surgery). It’s made me wince at the thought of another run. But I still get out there. So I’m looking forward to wearing it on my next run.

Hope it helps 😁

My knee was similarly hurting in between runs, but since buying the supports in June of last year I’ve only had one flare up.

Hi KayBee. I've recently torn a ligament and know I've a while to go before I get back to the app. Would you recommend I get some for when I can run again?

Hello Annion,

Ouch, I am sorry to hear that!

My feeling is that anything which supports the area will help rather than hurt, but I haven’t had a torn ligament, so don’t know what the medical advice is around that. I would recommend you check with your Doctor/physio before buying.

Wishing you a speedy recovery 👍

Hi KayBee

Thanks for replying. I will speak to my physio when I go. I guess I'm just looking for a quick fix even though I know it's gonna take months 😭

Understandable.

I think a compression sleeve should help, but ligaments are such tricky, fickle things, I wouldn’t want to suggest anything which might make it worse!
