Well off we went in the rain, early this morning, faithful spaniel and I to complete week 7. It’s my last run before my holiday, but I’ve got my running gear packed ready for next week. I will miss my faithful running pal, I wonder if he will miss these runs! I know he will be going out for walks and being well looked after by my friend, but I can’t see her going out on the snail trot at 6 am! Just hope the elderly Cypriot men who are about early in the morning in the village I’m staying in are prepared for the sight of me and my bum in Lycra! My my how it do stretch!
Warwidow im thinking of you every time I run up that hill!

By strange co-incidence we're both on holiday next and will both be running week 8 with Greeks looking on thinking what strange people we are - Τι να κάνουμε? - Ετσι είναι η ζωή! p.s. Run cautiously because Greek driving leaves something to be desired and your spaniel needs you safely back for more walkies at a trot.
We will be in Chrani 30 mins from the airport in Kalamata. I'm none too sure about northern Cyrus but the Peloponnese and Athens areas have more road fatalities than any other area in Europe and I've met several families affected even in my immediate vicinity where we've has a villa since 2007. I've also used the bicycle there and I'm not worried about the running but just know to be alert, run toward the oncoming traffic except for blind bends and be ready to swerve. They're the loveliest people but a sometimes crazy people when they get behind the wheel. A friend runs and cycles very long distances there regularly in bright clothes quite uneventfully so don't be put off and have fun.
There have been some very bad accidents in northern Cyprus . You are right about how most are fine till they get behind the wheel . I’ll be running around our village early in the morning there are always quite a few elderly villagers taking the air. I’ll be missing my spaniel. Hope I don’t get chased by the odd wandering dog ! Good advice about the running directions too . Here’s hoping for good weather ! Enjoy your holiday too !
Will have to compare notes on our return. A few added pounds from bread, olive oil, beer, wine, seafood, souvlaki, fried cheese etc is the most likely (and usual) result! Two even more unwise things to do however, running barefoot on sand and particularly swimming with flippers which always does my calves in but I'll probably give both a go anyway just for the hell of it 😎😂
I won’t be running on sand , I read about that on here . I’ve got flippers so might have a go in the pool . My friend e mailed me to day to say it was freezing in the pool !
I will be running past the bakery in our village . I hope I can keep running and not end up in there .the bread is divine! I love olives and the fried cheese I will have to keep an eye on myself and not go too mad.
I’ll be out very early so hopefully will avoid it being too hot but I am hoping for sun!
