This morning did my first solo run without Jo Whiley! Had audio on my Run Keeper giving me updates every 5 mins, every mile and avg pace and run my first sub 10 min avg pace miles.
On Tuesday ran with my daughter for 1st time, also recently graduated from C25K after I inspired her into doing it. Knew our pace was very similar and we ran well together and both achieved our longest runs in terms of both time 40mins and distance covered.
On to my 2nd Park Run this Saturday!

Well done! I'm on week 8 and can just about manage the 'run' but it really feels like more of a slow trudge (about 10mins40 mph) so it's encouraging that you've got under 10 mins per mile. It all feels like a slog to me now and I'm not really enjoying it any more. Any thoughts on whether I should focus on trying to get faster (which I'm hoping will be more enjoyable) or on just keeping going for the moment, however slowly? Have you focused on your pace, or have you found that your pace just gradually improves over time?
During the programme I just concentrated on getting the run done! Yes I looked st pace and tried to increase but getting it was most important. Since graduation I have been trying to increase my pace but find that it is coming more naturally as you build the stamina and confidence of getting it. If you do the same course you should have milestones so you will know whether you are on for a PB or not. If you are push that. It harder if you’re not just take it steady and complete the run. I’m finding I am enjoying running more as it goes on. Never thought I would do Park Runs but going to do my 2nd on Saturday!
I'd really enjoyed the first few weeks, but I do find constant jogging tedious. So it's good to know that you're finding it more enjoyable as you go along. 👍
Put some music on or anything else u find stimulating. Look around you as you run. Take your mind off the actual running and hopefully you will enjoy it more. Keep at it! The benefits are worth it. I have posted my journey in earlier posts. I hope that does encourage some. I have also taken inspiration from other people’s journeys. Being part of this Forum is a vital part of my journey and hopefully yours.
