First trail run :)

I went on a trail run for the first time last night and really enjoyed it! I live in the city centre and don't drive so I usually run from very close to my flat- luckily i live in a lovely area with a park very close and a river which has a lit path alongside it. So since I started running I have only run in a small variation of routes in the same area. My neighbour and his partner invited me to go for a run with them last night- and this was my first trail run! There were 5 of us and a dog and it was really fun! I liked the different terrain, and being off road surrounded by nature. We ran at a nice comfortable pace (average of 6:15 per Km) and chatting through the run- i was impressed at my ability to hold a conversation whilst running! We ran 5.6K in 35 minutes and time fly past as it was really good fun!

It really does make such a difference running in different areas and on different surfaces, glad you and your companions had such a great time.

Oh well done! That sounds great!  I live in town but not far from some trails, and I don't like using my car if humanly possible, so it's good to go off road and explore the area. You'll get to know all your highways and byways now, all the footpaths and short-cuts!  Mind you I did end up head first in a rain-filled ditch once, so tread carefully.  Running with others will help bring your running on a bit as they do help pull you round.  It's good to have the choice though isn't it. Some times you'll just feel like running on your own. Great way to clear your head and be alone with your thoughts, or a bit of music.  You'll be getting fitter of course. It's all good!

Wish you hadn't have said about the ditch.... I have this image now... Lovely trails and then you with your legs waving in the air!!!! Maybe we should put together a cartoon style book with small pikkies of some of the situations we find ourselves in as runners..you with your head in the ditch...
