Week 2 done (finally!) But...

So I’ve completed week 2, but I had over a week between runs 2 & 3 due to the fact that it’s the Easter Holidays and it’s hard to run with my daughter in tow (we tried once or twice, but it wasn’t too successful 😂). On Monday I twisted my ankle quite nastily and twisted my back in the process, as a result I’ve had pains down my right hand side, foot to shoulder, since 🙄🙄

I attempted to run last night to complete week two, but my back was quite painful afterwards so I’m not going to start week three until the pains have gone. Would it be worth me restarting week 2 instead..? I’m worried that I’ll find week 3 too hard after potentially a long break!

Well done so far. I’d certainly be taking a rest period with an ankle issue, they don’t heal as fast as other bits of us. When the pain has gone do strength and flex (links off the C25K webpage and a forum on here) to get those tendons strengthening again. In the meantime there’s some seated cardio routines online that will really help you maintain that side of your fitness without damaging that ankle. Like bing.com/videos/search?q=se... and doing that will make your comeback a little easier.

I was up to 8k runs when I injured my ankle and went right back to 0.5 mile runs to get me back gently, but I was out for 4 weeks... hopefully you’ll be sooner than that.

Wait to be pain free and then you can tell better where you are up to and go from there, but it’s probably worth backing off a little.

Thank you! It’s most inconvenient, I was just getting into the swing of it!

Will definitely look into the strength and flex and the seated cardio!

Yeah... I did mine in while walking (and being an idiot) just as I was getting ready to close out 10k. I probably went over cautiously, but I’m back where I was now and that 10 is going down in a couple of weeks.

I was walking too, just tripped over my own shadow 🙄🙄

It’s very frustrating, I can imagine it being much more frustrating in your position though!

Well, it was gonna happen one day... rather when I did it than mid marathon plan!

I don’t think this walking thing is very good for us 😂
