After 2 weeks rest to try and heal my horrific blisters I have just completed my first run of week 6. I have stepped it back a week as not exercised in 2 weeks. I purchased some running socks and took it slow as advised. Was feeling brilliant and for the first time actually enjoying myself until the Last 5 minutes when I could feel the blisters kicking in again. Overall feeling okay just hope the socks will prevent any more blisters occurring... do I continue running this week or ease myself back in gently?

Great job. Keep it nice and slowly and you should be good to progress. You shouldn’t have lost any fitness in 2 weeks. Did you actually get blisters today?

Well they still aren’t fully healed even after 2 weeks so still a bit sore but hopefully won’t develop into blisters again. I think it’s because the new skin underneath is so sensitive. I’ll see how they feel tomorrow.

I see... sounds like the socks have helped there then.

Update: a new blister has developed on the new skin underneath on one foot... Maybe it is the trainers. Going to probably try some old comfy (non running) trainers then go back to my running ones once they have healed fully. Typical
