Well that's the worst bit over. I haven't run for 9 years and it was a hard slog for every step but its done now. I checked my heart rate before the first brisk walk and I was already over the 100, feeling apprehensive I think. That first run was weird as my feet felt like they ere flapping about and I could feel every step in my knees but by the half way bell everything started to get synchronized a bit and it was my heart rate that I was watching. I adjusted my pace and by the last run it had settled down ok but I could feel the bottom of my lungs. Warm down completed and a glass of water later and I am feeling quite smug.
Starting heart rate 102 high 155 average 133 in the zone for 18.2 mins.

Hi Trev! Never underestimate how hard it is to get that first run under your belt, and how great it is that you've achieved it! I struggled so much with week 1 that I had to repeat it 3 times, so if I have any advice at all it's to slooooow it right down! I can't remember which week it is that the trainers on the app say that if someone was walking the other side of a hedge from where you are, they shouldn't be able to tell (from your head bobbing about!) whether you are walking or jogging. The programme is not about speed, it's about stamina - and slow and steady will keep you going through to week 9! I can't comment on your heart rate as I am on beta blockers so I am stuck in first gear!
