Week 1 - 3 runs done!

I tried last year to start this and couldn’t even complete the first run and that made me feel awful.

With everything that has been going on I thought I need to take control and decided to try again. I started on Tuesday and managed the first run just and thought I can’t do this twice more. Thursday rolled around and I got into an argument with a lady so I decided to try run 2 to calm down. I did it!

So today I thought I’ve done 2 let’s try run 3 and I made it!

I’m just not looking forward to week 2.

Brilliant. Well done! I’m only a week ahead of you and didn’t really like week 1 but I loved week2??? Go for it!

Don't fret it. You've done week 1. Week 2 has fewer runs, but they're a little bit longer. You've done eight 60 second runs. That's 8 minutes. Week 3's runs total 9 minutes per day.

Thank you. I’m feeling a bit less anxious over week 2 now

Wow that’s determination and you’ve done so well, don’t worry about each week before you get there, slow down and enjoy your running adventure

Welcome back to the forum and well done on your progress.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Enjoy your journey.

Keep going. I've just completed week 3 and actually did week 2 over 2 weeks. You will feel so proud of yourself if you keep at it.

Congratulations on completing week 1 of C25K, one little tip for you, don't look ahead at future weeks or runs, wait for the instructions from your coach before you run, onwards and upwards to week 2.

It’s surprising how you push yourself, it’s easier than you think. I never thought I’d be doing this at 57 but I’m so enjoying it . Keep it up 👍 you’ll smash it x

Well done on completing week one😁

Dont look at the whole program. Its run by run and you will get there.

I really struggled on week one too but week two was easier. I’m about to start week three today. The best thing I can say is make sure you hydrate.

Well done! Week 1 is tough! I do some of my best runs when someone or something has got to me at work 😂 I couldn’t wait to get out and run during the stressful days of being back in school after lockdown eased 😩. Now during the school holidays I’m so relaxed running is a chore 😂 but when I go back to work again I’m sure it will be my release valve once again. Keep running 🏃‍♀️

Well done for starting again and you can do this.

When I started I couldn’t do the one minute runs, and I felt a miserable failure. I kept on trying but when I heard someone say that I would never manage it and laughing at my effort with friends it spurred me into action. Now when I run 5k in a reasonable time I think back to how hurtful they were and keep on going.

I am over weight, the fat wobbles with me but I am no longer the couched potato on the sofa.

It will get easier, if you need to repeat a week do that and don’t beat yourself up.

I’m at the same place as you having completed week 1. I also thought I couldn’t do it! Well done 😊

Aah well done on completing W1. I’ve just done W2R1...it’s not too bad. Yes each run is a little longer, but you do less! Also the recovery walks are longer too. You can do it!

I just graduated last week and can honestly say I never really looked forward to my runs but I did start to feel good afterwards and now I have such a feeling of achievement. Just go out and do it and you will succeed!

Firstly well done you for having the courage to get out there and do it, knowing it wouldn’t be easy. The anger from the argument pushed you on....so.....this tells you your body is capable but your battle is a mental one. I’ve said this to others on here a trick I use is to banish all thoughts from my mind and focus only on completing the run itself. If a thought comes into your mind, imagine an eraser rubbing it out and blowing it away and push on. Try it. Also it’s important to get your breathing into a rhythm and listen to good upbeat playlist. Lecture over, stay positive, you can do it 👍
