Missing 2 weeks - returned!

Well, that's me back from my hollies. I was up and out with enthusiasm for my W5 R1 this morning after 2 weeks off and was desperately hoping the encouragement I received from the forum a fortnight ago was going to be true - that I wouldn't have lost any fitness and I'd be ok. But to be honest, and in reality, I'm not sure I was totally convinced. Hopeful, even optimistic, but not totally convinced.

Well, I'm SO CHUFFED to be able to say that it was true!! And in fact, it felt like my most comfortable run yet. Maybe it was because I'd had a 2 week break? Or was it because it really was that seamless? Who knows, but I don't care - I'm just glad I did it and it went so well.

However, what didn't go so well was that I lost my fitbit while I was out. Argh!! So when I got back home and realised that I'd lost it, I went right back out again to retrace my steps to look for it (walking all the way of course because by now I was knackered!). Unfortunately I didn't find it - how disappointing. Just as well my run went so well; at least 1 out of 2 ain't bad (costly, but not bad!).

What a nightmare losing your fitbit - I'd be completely lost without my running watch.

But well done on completing your run! I bet the rest did you good. I had a 2 week holiday just after graduating (couldn't run on holiday as it was so hot and humid) , and, like you, my first run on returning felt really comfortable.

Onwards and upwards now!

Good on you! I am going on holidays and I am nervous about coming back and having to repeat or drop down a level.

Actually on the faq blog it says that anything up to two weeks is ok, your body will not have lost the conditioning so soon! Any longer than two weeks and you might need to repeat or drop a week.

Anyway you have proved it was all ok and hopefully I can report the same in a few weeks

Hey don't be nervous! Sure I was the same, and now still can't believe I came back and picked up where I left off. I think it must have been the wee break I had that has done me a power of good. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you and hope it's the same for you. Meantime, enjoy your hols and let's know how you get on when you get back. 🏖

I definitely will. I’m thinking of taking my running gear if I can get out and about during my free time! I’m going to Peru, not sure how I’d plan my route but could try my best 😁
