Spring into action Quest Week 2. So how is this month going folks? ๐ŸŒค๐ŸŒท

Hello and welcome to week two of this monthโ€™s Quest. Roll up folks, itโ€™s our Spring into Action Quest to help us keep on progressing๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿป

Please feel free to join in if you have graduated. We will be running these Quests every month, updating weekly, so donโ€™t worry you can join in any time after Graduation, it doesnโ€™t matter when it is even if it is just for the last week.

Also please join if you have graduated and are on the IC, We have found reading and supporting other runners when we are on the IC helps to keep motivation up and helps to still feel part of this community so if you are on the IC put your name down, we will support you all they way back to your first run.

Here is the explanation of what the Quest is.

What the quest is:-

The quest last for a calendar month

You can join any time within that time.

The main aim of the quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.

We ask that you are a graduate . The main reason we ask this is that while you are doing the program your plan is very structured, so we wouldn't want the quest to interfere with that.

Most popular goals are:-

To run three times a week

To slowly increase distance

To train for a specific race

To add In Stretch and strength exercises

As you can see they are personal to yourself and it's totally your own choice.

Every week I will pin a new post where all the members of the quest can talk about how things are going.

My advise to you is to make your goals achievable as it is very easy to get discouraged if you aim too high. It is better to aim a little less and feel great at the end of the Quest and add some more in for the next Quest. Motivation is at its best when you feel a sense of achievement through something you are trying to do.

Please donโ€™t forget that all the forums are here for your benefit. They are set up to help with questions and queries as your progress on your running journey. Feel free to join any or all. You will find different levels of help on each forum, so well worth a look around.

We have the Bridge to 10km - this forum is for runners who need a little bit more technical advise than is offered on the C25K.

We have the Marathon Running and Race support.

Again this is another step up in the type of advise that is offered and it is there if you should ever need it.

We have the Strength and Flex forum, which is set up to help you with the NHS stretches and Strength workouts. Squats, lunges and the like are all in these programs.

We also have the Active 10 which used to be called walking for health. It is a great forum for sharing your walks on your days off or if you are on the Injury Couch.

Please feel free to have a look round all the forums but also keep in mind we need your help for new runners so you can support and encourage them on the C25K forum as they learn to run, so they can come and join us on these Quests once they have graduated.

Swimming has gone fine and pleased not to be put off by first half the pool being closed and second forgetting my cozzie and towel (before you think I skinny dipped, I left my old one in the bag and dried myself with a cotton shopping bag)

Only got one run in and could have done more yoga than I did, but all OK, still on the rails.

This week may be more of a challenge as I recover from my Dad's memorial and don't have the structure of termtime but we shall see!

My goal is:

3x runs a week

1x circuit training at home with YouTube

2x swimming a week

My quest is to attend my first park run.

I graduated (30 minutes of non-stop running) a few weeks back and am now managing 5km. I am suffering with what I think are shin splints. My runs are not overly painful but I do struggle for a few days post run. I have got a physio appointment on Thursday evening so am hoping I'll get more answers and a plan then.

Hi everyone, I'm still on track with my April Quest.... Managed my two runs last week. A longer one with a few walk breaks, then a 5k making an effort with the steep hill...๐Ÿ˜ฅ

I exercised to the pilates video and also did the aerobics one.

Watching my portion sizes, and eating healthily to lose some pounds before holiday. ๐Ÿ˜†

I went for two lovely afternoon walks with Mr BBR too.

Yesterday I went for hills again and ran a lovely 4.2k in a good time.

Next run will be Thursday which will be longer and I'm looking forward to it already!๐Ÿ˜Š

Thanks for this. I could use a bit of Questing inspiration to get myself gradually back to running the time/distance and frequency I was managing when I completed the programme back in October. A new nursing placement with irregular hours, exhausting shifts and then getting a chesty virus which didn't shift for several weeks...and it's all meant that I am only managing (on average) one 20 minute run a week at the moment.

The good news is that my fitness has been gradually coming back! - I thought it would be worse. And I am keen to start making running a more regular part of my life again: I never thought I'd have said this pre-C25K but I actually miss it!

So my April Quest is to:

Run twice weekly: 1 'short' run and 1 longer one.

Short run can be 15-20 minutes, and the second aiming to do 25-30 mins.
