Yeah .... I’ve done it! I really can’t believe it. Continuously running for 30 minutes!

Today’s run seemed tougher than the last two but I’m sure it is all in my head.

I’m off on holiday on Wednesday (next run day) and for the first time ever I shall be taking running shoes. Just need to find myself a route that I can consolidate on.

Thank you to everyone for your words of wisdom, enthusiasm and support.

Well I have managed to run 5K!!! It took me 35 mins 42 seconds but I did it!! Today I actually ran for 30 minutes from our holiday villa. It was hillier (and warmer) than my usual route at home but really enjoyed it.

I plan on doing similar after a rest day.

How are you progressing?

in reply toPeggy254

Hello!

You are doing brilliantly! "5K by 50" is my goal (I've a few months to get there yet).

I'm now in the middle of week 3 and secretly I am quite beginning to enjoy it, which surprises nobody more than it does myself! I can't believe I woke up this morning and thought "shame it's a rest day."

The only down-side is the lump that has come up on the top of my left foot. I've looked online and it seems to be something called extensor tendonitis, probably caused by loose fitting running shoes - I'm still running in my faithful old trainers. It is not classed as a running injury, but it's perhaps time for me to invest in gait analysis and proper running trainers.

Enjoy more sunny running! ☀️

5K by 50 - you can definitely manage that!

Would recommend gait analysis - I still have the odd ache in my knee/ankle but my shoes take a lot of the impact so can still run comfortably.

I should have run today but too much holiday wine meant I wasn’t feeling it!!

Abstaining from all alcohol today so I can have another run in the sun tomorrow. Now that’s dedication.

Keep up the good work 🏃‍♀️😊

in reply toPeggy254

Ah, holiday wine. It has a lot to answer for! I’ll be partaking of it myself (in moderation 😂 🤞 ) this weekend and running some Cornish coastal paths to clear my head afterwards! 😊

Hope you’ve had a lovely holiday - lots of wine and managing the odd run. I managed my 2nd holiday run yesterday .... slower due to the heat but ran just a bit over the 30 minutes.

By the way I’m reading a good book called “The Salt Path” about walking the Coastal path from Minehead to Poole.

in reply toPeggy254

Morning! I’m having a lovely holiday and the wine is flowing 😊, partly because of the awful weather!!

Unfortunately we are caught in a pocket of relentless stormy wet weather, which has been sitting over our little corner of Cornwall since we arrived, so I haven’t been able to run since Friday. Tomorrow is to be beautiful, so I shall be out there on the coastal path at the crack of dawn! This is the first time I will have more than two days between runs. Hope I adjust ok. 😕.

Thanks for the book tip. I love a good read and it sounds just my thing. 📚

Enjoy your running in the sun!

Hope the change in the weather has put a spring in your step!

I managed 3 runs in the sun on holiday and I now have a couple of days in Scotland. I shall have my first 30 minutes here tomorrow .... in the sun ..... lucky me 🏃‍♀️😊
