Lunch time

Hi everyone I am thinking of starting the running but I am terrified! Also do u think it would be possible to do it on my one hour lunch break from work. Would I have time to do the run and then eat a quick sandwich? So impressed that I can all do this!

Hi Thomasina73! Well done on getting started with C25K- you won’t regret it. Personally I think it might be a bit of a rush to do it in your lunch break but it depends how quickly you move. Don’t forget as well as the runs themselves you need to allow time to do some stretches afterwards and possibly also a quick shower. You also need to be able to concentrate on your running, not on whether you’ll be back at your desk on time! So in theory yes but you might get more enjoyment by doing it when you get home. Just my thoughts... Good luck with the plan, whenever you decide to do it !

Thank you and I see what u mean I might be a bit stressed out so I am not late back at my desk! I was just thinking best way to do it so I have no excuses not to go back out at night! I need to change my lifestyle with better eating and cutting out the wine as I worry about my health and I need a goal to do this. Hope u r doing well with ur running too!! 🙂

As above, probably better not to try and fit it in to your lunch break, at least to start with. I understand your concerns about going back out later though. What I do is on a run day, as soon as I get home from work I get changed and go straight back out. No sitting down, no cup of tea, no having a chat with the family. In the door, straight to my room to change and back out before I have a chance to think about not going!! Then when I get back, stretch, shower and get dinner cooked. Then relax and enjoy the happy feeling of achievement. Well done for taking the first steps, and good luck.

Welcome to the forum and well done on your decision.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

The only way you will know if you can fit it in is to give it a go.

Enjoy your journey.

Thank u! My 11 year old daughter wants to come along with me so maybe do it straight from work and school. 👍

That sounds like a great plan, and brilliant mutual support. Although the early weeks would probably fit into a lunch hour, by the end you need 40 minutes clear and you will get sweaty. Packing in the run, a shower and a sandwich would be very difficult ! Welcome to you and your daughter - enjoy your running journey together 😀

Aw thank u! I wasn’t sure if she was too young at 11 but she is so excited and keen I actually am surprised she wants to do this with me! We have downloaded Spotify for our music and Ready to go in a few days 🤞

Hi! I did up to about week 5/6 in my lunch breaks. I tended to eat lunch at my desk after. 🙂

I found anything past those weeks was too much of a squeeze to fit in. Allowing time for longer runs + warm up/cool down and leaving enough time for stretching and changing back into work clothes was tricky for me!

Straight after work seems a good alternative :)
