Just wondering what the avarage pace per mile people do? I have just finished week three and taking my time as I am new to running and want to complete the program I am on average a pace of 15.09 per mile and each session is approximately 2 miles. Does this sound right? Thanks.

This C25K programme is duration based, not speed or distance. A few weeks ago we had an 83 year old graduate, many run with their children, some C25KERS are young men in their twenties. There is no "right" for pace apart from it being one at which you can hold a conversation as you run. That pace will vary hugely and as far as the programme is concerned is irrelevant.

Your pace is your pace, my pace is my pace and Mo Farah's pace is.......... well, faster than us all. Don't compare yourself to others, only to the you that was previously not so active.

This guide may be helpful healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Have no fear, you are doing great.

Carry on taking your time, you're doing just fine.

Well done for getting to the end of W3, you're well on your way.

This program isn't about speed or distance it's about getting you running 3 times a week and for longer periods of time each week, there's no pressure to break any records. You're doing this for you so whatever your speed it's the right speed for you.

Slow and steady is the way forward.

Good luck and happy running!

Hi lisae1981

I don't really think there is a definitive answer to this. Everyone is different. On on Saturday at my local Parkrun one chap did the 5k in 47 minutes... hes over 80! Another chap did it in 18 minutes ...hes 16!

Firstly I've goes to do a bit of maths to convert things into kilometers... errr

Google reckons... 1km =0.621371... so your pace is (I think) 15.09 x 0.621371 = 9.4 min per km.

I'm 52 in April, I am an overweight bloke and have graduated C25k on my 51st birthday. It takes me about 40mins to do 5k which is 8min per km, sometimes a bit quicker, more often a bit slower... this might give you something to compare to. When I graduated back in April I was doing about 8:47 min per km.

BUT... I wouldn't worry too much about it. As others more experienced than myself have posted the C25K program is really misnamed. Really, i think, its about running for 30mins without stopping. But "couchto30minitueswithoutstopping" isnt a very catchy title.

In the NHS C25K version which a lot of people use "Laura" says well done you've managed to run for... so many minutes. she doesnt really say much about the kilometers or miles you are supposed to have run.

The key is to stick with it. 9 months after finishing I for one can't manage anywhere near 5k in 30 min but neither could 120 other runners at my Parkrun last week end! When you finish the C25k program you will find that there are other plans, apps etc which you can use IF u want to go a bit quicker.

Apologies if this has been of no use to you at all LOL.

Happy running.
