Knowing that I would be unlikely to fit a run in until Sunday, I decided to sneak out at lunch time. I needed a short-ish run to fit into the time, so I redid the speed podcast yet again.
Not a lot different to report, apart from the fact that this route was mildly hilly. I work at Buckshaw Village near Chorley, UK. It has a footpath/cyclepath surrounding it at an ideal length for a quick run. The hills do make a difference though, only slight ones, but quite lengthy, all good for exercising muslces I'd forgotten about. This was also a very nostalgic run for me, since I did my week 5 run 3 round Buckshaw, and as many of us will know, that's often a milestone run in the programme, as it was for me.
Not counting the warm up/down walk, I ended up running 2.68km in 17:19, with my fastest pace being 5:43/km, which is a personal best!
What on earth is wrong with me? I'm enjoying running and looking forward to the next one!!
Good work Mr Speedy! Getting faster does happen quite organically over time after graduation, I have found. And get you, sneaking runs in at lunch time?! You are totally addicted… and what a great addiction it is too.
I was out this morning. Was supposed to be yesterday, but I postponed when I remembered I had Pilates at lunchtime, and a run on top of that would be too much, as my teacher really works our legs! But, pins felt fine this morning, so I sprang out of bed and was out in my happy place (the woods!) at 6:30am. Sun was shining, there was a freshness in the air and I was so happy to be running I was singing along to my playlist at the same time. Lord only knows what the dog walkers make of this red-faced, mad fool as she speeds by!
Why thank you Ms Speedy Yes, I have found as my fitness improves, I get faster. No great surprises there, but nice to see that the theory actually works in practise.
Oh - I've just corrected my pace, as I put in the average rather than the fastest. Silly boy! Pretty sure the average is also a PB for me though. Oh what fun we mad runners have
I'm glad you got to run this morning, and I hope the pilates went well, and you didn't keel over or anything lol
Thank you Mummycav , nothing like a sneaky quicky before the weekend eh! I think I quite like this sneaky running. Maybe stealth running would be a good name. Yeah
