Good for you ! Loving your perseverance. It took me nine weeks of repeats to conquer week 1, so I’m completely on your side here. Slow and steady - you’ll get there x

Have you tried the NHS Strength and Flex podcasts ? Couple of really useful calf stretches on them - one right from the start and the other in week 5. It amazes me how knotted up my calf muscles always are 😄

Have been at physio for last 3 months, grade 3 calf strain - lots of exercises to do and build running slowly - reminder to self - do not rush this!

You’ve plenty to do without extra podcasts then ! Great that your physio is on the job. Hope things continue to improve for you x

Will look at pod cast too thank you, anything which allows me to progress is so much appreciated x

Just keep on keeping on is all I can say. I’m starting week 4 on Monday and it does get easier. I’m plodding on with the Japanese slow running technique carrying my excess baggage with me, but I AM starting to enjoying.

Good Luck

Your perseverance is key, along with patience and it sounds like you have that too. Repeat as many times as you need to. You’ll get there. Well done. 👍

Good on you! I had similar, breezed through program first time but then when consolidating at 30mins after graduation I kept getting injuries. Calf muscle 8 mins in, ligaments and a hamstring! Took some time off and restarted at wk 5. I did each run 3 times till I completed. Ran 45mins and 6 k yesterday so perciverence pays! Keep at it and well done for not giving up!

You've had the best advice already but what worked for me was twice daily massage by my partner of the lateral hamstring tendons and calves plus ibuprofen gel after and some gentle walks between running days to keep everything moving. Keep on keeping on and good luck.

Well done for getting expert advice YarmouthGirl. It is good to know what your dealing with and how to repair and prevent a repeat injury. Just keep up with the physio exercises and take it slowly. Good luck.

Well done, keep going Yarmouth girl. I feel you pain, started C25K two weeks ago for the 4th time in the last 18 months, due to torn Achilles issue from 18 years ago keeps creeping back, did W2 run 3 last week and had to stop, limped home with a sad heart....Again. I am doing stretches, extended heel drops, calf stretches too, ibuprofen gel, walking gently to keep moving. I WILL conquer this. I am suffering with stress and anxiety love walking but find running is fantastic for my M.H. so really want to get there.

Hi you’ve inspired me to keep getting out there! Can’t believe I started last May! I was doing well, getting to week 8 and then put my back out gardening and since then get twinges when I try to get back into it. I think I’m being a bit wimpy ! Good luck - you can do it!
