Just done wk5 run 1. Was dreading it because for some reason I found Wk 4 a bit of a challenge mainly due to a pain in my upper left thigh on run 2. For run 3 it was still there but I completed. Yesterday I did a few stretches after the first five min walk and it was fine. I really enjoyed it

I can't tell you how terrified I was of Week 5, doubly-so before yesterday's third run involving 20 minutes non-stop. The voice in my podcast encouraged me to have faith in the programme so I just took off after the 5-minute warm-up walk. Because of a cold drizzle, I opted to do it on the treadmill which is much easier than the road, admittedly, but complete it I did, and couldn't believe I could go the full time. The summary on the screen indicated a distance of 2.74 km, incorporating the warm-up walk presumably. I'm not daunted. 5 Km will be doable as we ease into a better stride. I used to run long distances in my youth and am starting to get that old feeling of getting into 'the zone.' Keep at it and have courage that you're doing the right thing towards 5 km.

Thanks for that. Yes I used to do 60 miles a week and then had a gap of 20 years. I’m now 67. I was daunted to start with because I was looking for that feeling of the zone as it wasn’t coming. However the two 8 min were actually better for me particularly the second one. I walked the 5 minutes n cool down and was about 1/2 mile from home so ran it a bit faster just to see and it felt good so actually looking forward to the 20 mins tomorrow.
