A lot of negative posts here this evening. So here is a positive one. I could not get out for my run this evening until late, but I dragged myself out at 9pm. I was just going to do a nice 5K. But I did the first 2K quite fast and then decided to keep going and see if I could break my 5K PB. I continued the run almost eye balls 👀 out and I did it. I got 27:07. Agonizingly close to a sub 27 but I’m delighted. I was wrecked afterwards, but happy.

Cheers Decker. The interval training is still paying off.

Woohoo Damien. I’m not here that often these days but great to see you are still achieving those milestones!

Thank you Sue. Hope all is well with you. Yeah I started doing interval training in February and my Parkrun times have improved no end. It’s almost 2 years since I started C25K. Best thing I ever did.

Well done! It’s all about listening to your body and mind and see how you feel on each moment of the run. I have had it both ways when I think I’ll do a longer run and then my body is tired and once I felt great so did fartleks. Congratulations on your achievement!

Thanks. Yeah I know what you mean. I’ve been there too several times. I’ve learnt through the interval training that your body is capable of far more than your mind would have you believe and sometimes you have to politely ask your mind to shut up as you push through. But your right sometimes you have to listen and slow up a little.

Thanks. I just need to replicate it at Parkrun someday.

Wow... Flying along. Do you think running at night helps focus?

I just did not have any choice. Got in from work at 6pm. Had dinner. Then my wife went out for a 5K Walk, fast walk. I finished homework with my 2 boys and before I knew it 8:45 . I run on a Monday and Wednesday and then Parkrun on Saturday. So I have to get out, no matter what time or what weather. I prefer running in the evenings. No way I’m getting up at 5:30 am to run.😀

Agree on the not doing 5:30am runs. I’ve done 3 in dark or sunset and they went well! So I know in future dark is no excuse!

Wow, fantastic run, damien! You will knock that 7 seconds off because you didn't set out thinking you were going to, so I bet you can do that first 2k just a teensy bit faster :) And now, of course, you know it's in your grasp! Great job!

Thank you Annie,

My 3rd kilometer was the slower one, first 2 were fast, last 2 were fast. I could have shaved that 7 seconds off the 3rd k, but I needed to pull back a little. I’m in no rush, but I know I’ll get there.
