W5 test run

Hi all. I woke up this morning full of the joys of Spring and decided that instead of walking two of my boisterous spaniels that I would jog with them.

I am starting week 5 on Monday and like to do a big of a personal test of myself the Saturday before. I warmed up walking and got the steep hill out of the way and then started running...I ran and ran...not break neck speed but a comfortable pace. My hubsters all singing garimn packed up! Probs my fault but a good estimate is that I ran for 25 mins...feeling proud now.

I am going to stick with the programme as I am doing this with a friend...and it may have been a one off but I felt good...feel amazing now. Think I have caught the running bug.

I have the feeling and you are probably right, that I will get some ticking off messages saying don't get ahead of yourself, but the urge to do that this morning was hard to refuse...plus it isn't too far ahead as I am due to do 20 min run on Friday anyway and I have found a lovely route....

The other bonus is that my two lovely boys were flaked out sunbathing afterwards for an hour....but they are only two years old and are raring to go again now! Happy running and lovely weekend.x

Well done.

We don't tick off anybody. We are all adults.

We just offer advice based on our personal and second hand experiences along with the received wisdom accepted across the running world.

Doing too much too soon is a sadly common theme on this forum.

Take care.

Understood...

I will be sensible...don't want an injury, I'm starting to enjoy it and want to make it a regular part of my lifestyle.

Thank you for the wisdom.

What IannodaTruffe said.

Great job... and now you have nothing to prove any more... be proud and run smart... happy running.

Have you ditched the other 4 running mates now?

No, they are more than welcome to join us and one did on Fridays run, but we are now all following different weeks. We still manage a good chin wag on the warm up and first few minutes running.
