I know there are lots of studies about whether you should run with music or not, but I've found that it works best for me if I listen to music.
So far, I've read on this forum (and elsewhere) that you should listen to music you like. This sounds like sound advice obviously, but then when I look at my 'fave music' playlist and I see a list of 50 songs, all cello and mostly classical the other piece of advice that I've read comes to mind:
'You should listen to upbeat music with a relatively quick beat to match what your cadence should be (*insert scientific explanation of why*)'
And therein lies my problem. Should I listen to my playlist of cello music, (all of which are quite slow) and risk falling behind with my cadence or should I listen to one of those youtube running playlists that 100% have the right beat for me but as for the music itself.... to put it lightly, I'm not really a big fan.
Right now I'm using the C25K podcasts instead of the app as it takes the choice away from me, but I'm conscious that I only have 2.6666 weeks left of the plan and I have to take running into my own hands afterward.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

For me I listen to music I like not music to keep up my running beat. What I listen to is fast paced but I run slower . So I guess just do what suits you 😊
If you wish to listen to any of Bach's solo Cello🎼🎵🎶 suites while running that is fine, however, as you will realise listening to that music does not have any cadence beats per minute at all. There are many playlists for running on Spotify, try some of Jancanrun's playlists on Spotify. 😊.... or Bach🎶
Is there a middle ground? Some classical is quite high tempo... I hear you on cello though! Not tried this for classical but jog.fm is great for matching music to tempo in a genre you actually like.
I often run to coaches in my ear and on my long runs they leave me to it for a bit here and there... so some of the symphonies that have fast bits and then slow bits could work in the same way.
I like all sorts of stuff, but my goto is death metal... If I could run to that tempo I’d be running past Sir Mo, so I use music just for distraction now.
I run with podcasts, audiobooks and radioplays instead of music. It works better for me because it takes more of my attention to listen so I'm focusing on the story and not on how tired I am! Probably not for everyone but it suits me so it's an idea.
