Thankyou everyone I did it!

My first time posting but so wanted to share. I’m so chuffed, come wind rain or snow I got there and have now graduated and got my first stone loss award all in the same week. Wanted to thank everyone on the forum who have helped without even knowing. Any question, fear, thought or feeling I’ve had through the journey has been expressed by someone else. This has made me feel I’m not on my own when it was tough and proud when it went well when I achieved another hurdle. All you guys are absolute stars and I want to thank you all for such an encouraging and positive forum.

Fantastic.

When does the weight loss start?

I'm in week 3 and haven't really loss any weight at all.

Running for 30 minutes will burn between 200 and 300 calories. In the early days of the programme fat will get burnt a bit, but mostly you will be building muscle. Muscle is heavier than fat! So you might even put on weight in the first few weeks.

Once you graduate, and are confident to run for longer than 30 minutes, the fat starts to come off faster. This is because in the first 30 minutes your muscles use up all their glycogen, and the body has to use fat to fuel the muscles.

Not sure if I trust this, but it seems close:

I have started both journeys at the same time I.e SlimmingWorld and couch to 5k programme. I still had weeks where I gained even though I stuck to plan which was a bit frustrating but I noticed my shape changing more than anything which is worked well with the weight loss. I had to be careful I didn’t eat the wrong things after run as I was definitely hungrier on those days. Lots of carrot sticks and celery!!!!!

Well done! You can't lurk forever!

I was talking to a mum at parents evening and she did c25k but then stopped!

Are you planning how to progress from here?

in reply toKatnap

Good point. At the moment I’m on a weight loss journey aswell and have another stone to lose. Judging by my current rate that will take another 3 months so want to continue to run whilst I do that . I have signed up for park run but not brave enough to go yet! I at least want to consolidate my runs for a while aswell (didn’t know that term before I started, feel like a pro!!). So still have targets which makes me keep going!!😊

If you can get the habit in grotty weather it should be easier in the warmer well lit days and nights to come!

Very well done. A whole new world (well it was for me) opens up. The post from Ionada is well worth a read. Essentially the key thing seems to be to consolidate for a bit. I found that to my pleasant surprise I got quicker and also the runs became more enjoyable. No need for earphones, just enjoy. Its now become an established habit and I get a bit grumpy if I haven't been for a run for more than a couple of days.

Very best of luck and once again......CONGRATULATIONS
