I can’t believe it but I graduated this morning at my first ever Parkrun event. I think I’m walking on air.
I crossed the line with the theme tune to Rocky playing in my headphones and I swear if there had been a flight of steps at the finish line I would have run up them just for sheer joy at completing the programme. Well ok I might have had to crawl up a few of them as I didn’t have much gas left in the tank but I feel like I’m on top of the world.
I wanted to finish at my first Parkrun and have been looking forward to this day with a mixture of nervousness and anticipation so almost felt overwhelmed by emotion and the start and nearly burst into tears at the finish line! I’m sure they must be used to that. My official time was 30 mins 24seconds and I am so so so happy with that.
I’ve had amazing support through the programme at home and my lovely husband was at the finish line to capture the moment and to present me with a medal for my achievement ❤️❤️. He’s been best friend, chauffeur, photographer, cheerleader, shoulder to cry on, sports physio and so much more.
As for my lovely fellow forum runners I can honestly say I would never have got here without you. You have encouraged me, challenged me, cheered me, entertained me and allowed me to share in your individual journeys as you have shared in mine. Thank you so much 🤗. I will be running along virtually with you all and cheering from the sidelines.
Xx

well done Sadeskin on your graduation too! The parkrun was a great way to mark the end of the beginning of my running adventure. I'm sure you will love it. There really is nothing to it. Register, turn up and run. Oh and enjoy it of course. I think I will be much more relaxed now that Ive been to one. Everyone was really welcoming and helpful and running in company was a completely new thing for me.
I'm still amazed at being able to run at all never mind for 30 mins. lol We runners never cease to amaze me.
You did so well, I hope you’re still swimming in pride! Yes, running in company is new to me too and that’s what makes me nervous I think. I won’t be happy until I’ve done it though!
Thank you Or10 . So glad to hear you are within touching distance of the podium. Please keep going, you are so close now. I benefited so much from reading positive encouragement from other forum members and it's nice to pass that on.
looking forward to reading about your graduation soon 😀
