I have a very mild disability it affects my movement and coordination and balance, I went and saw a specialist doctor yesterday and he told me along with my mother that I have to stop running as it’s too high impact for my body to cope with, he suggested cycling or swimming for me as that would be better for my body to cope with.
I just wanted to thank everyone for all their support and advice and I got up to week 4 on the app!!!
Thanks again everyone xx

Congratulations on making it to week 4! Of course you have to listen to medical advice. Fortunately there are still plenty of options open to you with cycling and swimming. Lots of training plans and events to enter online. And having got through the first 4 weeks of running you have learned transferable skills to help you ease into any other sport. Very best of luck!
Thank you I’m gutted I really enjoyed running but as my mum said I don’t move in the “normal way” so I don’t run properly and we don’t know what damage I could be doing to myself.
Thank you I’ll have a look into cycling events round my area and see if I can enter a couple. I have definitely built up my stamina so hope I can go further on my adult trike. Thank you again take care
Wonderful thank you so much for this information I’ve signed up but not found a ride suitable just yet but I’ll keep my eye on the website thank you again. Xx
That’s such a shame Tigg85 but you can feel huge pride in getting to week 4! And I’m sure you’ll take to cycling or swimming just as well - good luck with whatever you decide on!
Please come on over to the Stregnth and flex forum. I know it doesn’t look too inviting just now but we are having a big push in April to include cycling and swimming and maybe you could help us out to get it going.
So sorry to hear that but obviously you have to listed to the medical advice. I reckon cycling is very exciting (I may go there one day, but not just yet...). All the very best and do stop back once in a while and let us know how you are getting on.
Hi Tigg, I am sorry to hear that. However, I enjoy cycling very much too - it can be very satisfying- (& you get to whoosh down hill! 😂)I discovered the free Mapmyride app which tracks your distance/ speed etc - it might give some extra focus to your cycling if you find a structure encouraging. Best of luck. X
