Hey so I just finished week 1, ready to start week 2 tomorrow. Any tips to stop the knees from tingling or is it an age thing. I’m a young 44 and only just started running. Have to say am loving the feeling of freedom when I’m out.

Week 2 tips
Welcome, good running shoes are always a good idea. Have you tried running on grass? Less impact on the knees.
Great to hear that you’re enjoying it... and you’ve done the hardest week as it also included dragging your butt out there!
Nice slow paced running will see you through the week... your body is ready for the step up.
Good running shoes, nicely paced running, feet landing flat and under the body, and softer running surfaces will all help the knees. I started the plan with long term bad knees, pain every day for 30 years. Now I’m pain free because I run and also because I did the strengthening exercises in the pinned posts. We have a sister forum for the NHS strength and flex programme which really helps with the running. healthunlocked.com/strength...
Great job so far... keep loving it, that’s half the battle!
My knees hurt to start with but are so much stronger now. Maybe take 2 rest days in between runs and good trainers are key. Get gait tested if you can.
Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5... and includes advice on minimising the impact.
Enjoy your journey.
I think unfitnomore has said everything I would of suggested. The strength and flex helped me no end with my pains and niggles. I invested in new trainers around week 4/5 when I knew I’d caught the running bug. Good luck xx
Well done you.. maybe try these knee exercises which many of us find useful..!

Try to land lightly too... I call it kissing the ground with your feet... it sounds silly but it works!
Thank you all for your replies. Definitely will have a read as I do feel very heavy footed and I’ve not really rested as I walk everyday with the dog but was getting braver and having a bit of a jog every day when no one was around lol. Going to make myself rest today and have a good read of those links. ✌️😊
I also found knee supports to be very helpful. Good luck 😀
Hello, my knees were aching after week 1. Make sure you have good running shoes. I went and had my feet assessed in New Balance.
2. Small even steps
3. I bought knee supports
As long as it is not a sharp pain keep going. Knees get used to it.
Good Luck
